These do have some hard edges, but I think they look really cool regardless. I actually purposefully make hard edged gradients sometimes to give my pieces a sort of modern, stylized look. That said, I know the goal for this class is to create softer edges, but it really does take a good amount of practice to get the hang of it, so you're on the right track!I'm so pleased that you used the pan set you already have to experiment and find colors that work for you! You've created some really nice skin colors! I happen to have that same pan set and oh my gosh, I love it! Haha, you may be on to something re the fan beside you. XDThank you so much for posting! thank you for the timely feedback. It's alright, I slept after, think we are in different time zones. 

I only realised there were hard edges after it dried, so .. i think i'll need to paint with the air con on next time! hehe 

will practise these spheres a few more times to get soft edges and upload them after. Even though it's hard to control at first, after a while, it's really fun and enjoyable! 

my difficulty is I don't mix enough base paint at the start, and then i struggle to get the 3 different mixes while it's still wet and almost drying. (the palette is a little small, i might buy a bigger palette soon, and maybe another paintbrush)

Oh whoops, now this really is a super delayed response! Better late than never, I suppose. Anyhoo, mixing enough color is such a struggle! It really takes a lot of trial and error to figure it out and even then, I still mess up and don't mix enough, ha. It brings me so much joy that you're having fun just experimenting and such. I think when we go into every piece with the idea that it should be "good" we really do ourselves a disservice. It stresses me out to expect greatness from myself every time, you know? Once again, thank you for being such a generous student! You're why I love making these videos.

hi Melissa, thank you so much for your reply. It means alot to me. I have a long way to go in terms of mixing colors and learning how they work together, also to create the 'mood' or 'look' i want for the piece.. it's been real fun just learning from you and all our classmates' projects!!

wow i just realised I don't really know the shades of pink, orange and red I have in my palette, plus all the shades of brown! haha 
cos I always paint with greens and red mostly but REALLY WANT TO LEARN how to paint people!!
I'm using a Van Gogh travel half pan set, so what I used for the spheres were 
-burnt sienna 
- burnt umber 
-madder lake deep 
-quinacridone rose 
-Azo yellow medium 
-Permanent lemon yellow 
 
So much to practise! had all the hard edges boo :( haha 
I've a fan blowing at me just beside my table, so I guess some layers dried too fast lol
