#100DaysofSkillShareProjects - Day 59

This was a great class and one that I will be returning to over and over again.
My 30 second pitch is specifically to the animation industry (media industry is general). I want to see more people of color as the lead character. I'm so tired of seeing black woman portrayed as the ghetto baby mama, angry black woman, side chick, sassy best friend and every other hurtful stereotype that seems to follow us around.
Think back to y our favorite animated movies, how many had a black man or woman as the lead? Not a supporting character, extra or sidekick. Yeah, the only movie I can think of is Princess and the Frog (2009). On average 90 featured animated films are released every year. So between 720 animated films have been released since 2009-2017 and 1 has had an African-American woman as the lead. (If you know of another animated movie I'm missing, please please let me know.)
This has to change. And I'm going to help to change these dreadful numbers.
I still have A LOT to learn about animation and the animation industry but I'm getting there one day at a time.
