1. Singing Notes on the Sax Mouthpiece: Hello and welcome to my course today. We're gonna talk about singing notes and repeating exactly the same note on the mouthpiece . No, just down straight. So I'm gonna try to pick one note now and gonna repeat of my voice. So like, and I'm gonna repeat exactly the same on the mouthpiece. I'm trying to work. Uh, yeah. Ah, Now you're probably thinking how is that possible that I'm singing one note reason My voice and the rippling Exactly the same one on the mouth, please. You see if you thinking logically if you look inside of your throat with the size about the height off each, now is the angle of your throat. So if it's points higher or lower, it will really end. It will really construct the way on the pitch is built. So the if the throat is pointing up, the richest in behind is gonna point down the pitch obviously is gonna be lower. So exactly the same thing will happen when you when you wealthy is true. Happen when you when you play the same note on the monkeys. So let me just threw that one more time, so I'm trying to find an ultimate. Make sure you don't find you don't sing another this to like long because it's extremely hard to, depending on the mouthpiece opening to repeat it on the on the path to try it and find the one that's not too high, not too lost something and then try to push as imagine Prue here. Same. Now, before you start playing in Matthew's now, sometimes we'll when my happiness, you're gonna hit the wrong note and, you know, try to immediately adjusted correct to try to avoid that. So trying to get yourself to frustration where you you need to hit the mouthpiece with correct once about try to avoid situation where you were seeing a like on a plane because the rules should be always impressive. When you practice the mouthpiece that you hit that read with your tongue, you fit, you know, right in the middle. Tryto uh uh, So this success is extremely valuable because it teaches you to control your lands and your throat, which later on once we're going to do more of US exercises, it will transfer to the quality of your sound. I enjoyed that video. I'll see you next time 2. Steady Sound : Hello and welcome to my course today we will talk about how to create a steady naled on the mouth, please. So, as you know, if you can create a study sound while playing, the math is only later on. When they put the whole instrument altogether, the sound is gonna be much easier to produce, and everything is gonna be basically much easier to play. So let me just demonstrate what they mean by playing a steady note on market itself. Uh, now, let's look about a few things. First of all, this there won't be angry. Sure. So the amateur means how the way you you hold with your lips, the mouth is itself. So you wrote your lower lip just here, below the markets, onto the read. You don't roll it in. Some teachers do teach, um, and he put the teeth on the top out. Recommends getting a month dispatch that you can put on top of the mouth piece. It will simply prevent your thief from sliding and extreme point for beginners. And for the best place because it will hold. You are measure in the same position. Um, so once you do, it wants to put it on, Put your team on the top will make them more for So just have a little, my dear, the way I question my lips towards the mouthpiece fast, I put my teeth on the top. You're not rolled out my lower lip, so my corners are open so I can take the breath from my diaphragm. Then what happens? I gather the breath into my bathroom when I started note with the tongue. A syllable to do so. This and you attack just below. Tick off the tongue to your fact, that tip off the read itself just I don't have a listen. Uh, so in the Bible, you sort of can can hear that it starts with that civil pop the second important thing to create a steady some on the markets itself. So you have to keep in mind that your throne used to be always relaxed. One way to do so it is by using your imagination. So which can do is to imagine that you sing or say, a low pushed note. So, like something really low. So then try to use your imagination to imagine that No, no. Before you even start playing and naturally open your throat like So Now if your if your throat is gonna be closed, you know they have. You know, Colin, in the throw itself, that would be big enough to put through the air naturally. So I'm gonna play a note. Now, that's gonna be very close, because I can close my throat, so all right. And now I'm gonna start with the clothes throat, and they're gonna just opening up naturally. So, uh, uh, that's it. So why don't you to practice? I want you to, um, to create a couple of long terms at least 10 seconds each. So I will spend maybe 15 mins altogether in practice suggested mouthpiece and creating that steady, steady note the fight final tick for years. To also try to imagine a straight line that's going from the mouthpiece from your sound towards the wall. You also imagine that you know, that's that, that you're trying to make a hole in the wall, and you do so off course by pushing the muscles of your diaphragm life. So, uh, try to make sure that you keep pushing with I die from firm and that you do not leave the pressure out has to be consistent all the way through. I hope you enjoyed that video, and I'll see you next time. 3. Tonguing Essentials: Hello. Welcome to my course. Today's topic this, honey. So before we proceed to if you exercise, I've prepared for you. You know the basics. So in order to time a note on the saxophone form, the mouth is itself. Um, we have to attack there just below to tick off the read, which just below the part that is just below the tip of your tongue. So basically like this have to keep in mind when you do so this Izabal preferable to use would be Tom, So t a Tom. And just really when you try to save yourself, are you want to say to harsh right top like extremely gently Ah, excessive. Give you toe the closest feel to to the fuel you have When you're when you're talking on the Mahdi's, The next thing is not to remember stuff. When you tell the mouthpiece is this the tiny Must be that the attack itself must be quick but so is the treat of your time and your tongue should lay always down. You troll in your new month so that the air goes through the mouth so it doesn't interfere with that area. Coastal threw him up. The second thing is, remember that stops you always want to support with your advice from Because not many people know that if you really push your die from hard, your tongue is gonna be just much lighter. Which in turn is gonna give you just just a better and more efficient time thinking. So just don't straight funerals for you first, right. Uh, now it is important to mention also that before we start practicing couple of most hanging out, I would prefer you to focus entirely on the beginning of the note. Suddenly players or beginners or even intuited players. What about human playing? They start the sound and you you hear the Hiss song beginning with the air. Now it's just really you know, the proof that's the hectic think is a sport is what you want to always Chief, this is the pure sound, pure essence sound beginning his Imagine you're in a situation where you in the studio recording and you have to start exactly on the first beat off the bar. And the other thing here is like I got a little dealing lesson. So the first exercise for you should be too um, just starting on. Just keep listening. If you're beginning of your note is really pure to something like this. Uh, I hope you enjoy this video. I'll see you next time. 4. Bending Notes : Hello and welcome to my course today. Stuff is gonna be an intermediate to advanced Stop. You talk about bending notes. So I want my previous videos. I was talking about how much the position of your throat in there the end of your throat, which is sometimes referred to the back of your tongue, is connected with the way you play the Muppets itself. So today in try and play a single note and we could have been by a cynical down. I'm going back again into the original vault. So let me just demonstrate first. So having there I started. I see no trying to keep his nice and steady. Once I was sure that I was secure. I just lowered the known by moving my larynx down a little bit. And because I practice us before I was secure enough to move it just by seven home and then hold it enough position and went back up, it's the first no, just a normal time. Yeah, so, you know, to learn how to do that efficiently, you probably want to think about moving a lower lip a little bit in the beginning. Ideally, you don't want to know anything but us because of facts and you exercise for you, I would recommend, just like loosening up that lower. Try to avoid frustration. We do too much because you might lose the sound like and something like this might happen because my only is you still need the protection of the sound. Just create it. Obviously, by the position of amateur and the pressure coming from the bathroom. And if your amateur is this not tired enough, then you know gonna achieve that position. So we're gonna lose the sun. So that would say to you this I'm trying to experiment and try to listen up that just a little bit. You have to really think that you want to match the chemical itself. Another, that's that you don't know this still there And then it was that first thing to do is to try to bend it. How far you wanted with down losing the sun and then stay on that second note. Fall for longer. Now, if you hear that your sound is shaking, probably, you know, supporting enough or your you went too far with your lower lip. And if you haven't done this before, you have to give my also that the muscles that's responsible, toe holding up bent note. It's just here. And it might not be developed yet in your case. So even when you bend that note, it's not gonna be, you know, eyes in the hold. No, steady enough to try to for now, just just then to know however you like, and then hold it there. So, uh, uh, now the final part is to once you feel more secure with Benny that, you know, try to go back to the previous note the very first. No, just just be careful and make sure that we go back is very important that you don't go back by so squeezing and pushing more story Read with your with your lower lip is the idea of exercise is the drawing toe. Open up the note more and you open it up by loosening the youngest member Sure down and keeping the inside of my momma's because possible, and then going back more with your allowance than in third position, then with amateur. That's gonna if you muster that is going to give you the most open sound hat, so we just the most during the final part. So I'm gonna bend a note and then I'm gonna go back up. The final thought is that that's gonna help you. To go back up is to imagine that you don't want to do it, obviously with your lips. So you try to imagine that you push up the air forwards back again. Now, usually that's, um, sort of image in your head. We'll just make it much more easy to go back to the first note without using your lower lip . This is every time you overuse the amateur, you end up with this squeezed sound, which is, um, you No, no, no, no, that fact you design. So I hope you enjoy this video and good luck. 5. Two Notes: Hello. Welcome to my course today. We'll talk about playing two notes at the time on the mouthpiece. So when I say two notes of time, I mean playing two separate notes like, Ah, so let me just most trade I'm talking about when I would wake me by saying to that time. So I just played, um, a note that was tone above the primary note. So, you know, to do so, do that again. You have to move your larynx slightly up. Just make sure that you do not start on a high note is all depends how much your muscle has been. Never locked from the previous exercise I give you, um And so then trying to start slightly lower than usual. And I try to move your larynx up to the next note, and my only is trying to use your ears to guide you so that you don't end up on like a random notes. I don't wanna Thurtell full up, but rather like, make sure your full control on and just go a tone up from the series 11 thing that can help you with that is that you again seen. So if you go or even slightly in the mid French Teoh Uh, worker. I tried to make sure, and then she stay on each annulled slightly longer on the best way to keep your best way to keep your trap is Teoh use the natural. So just been immature. Maybe on, like, 60. I got my coop student. Just demonstrate and then say, after four beats moved in next note in the court for fashion It's exactly on time. Uh, right And then to finish the note One of the key issues in jazz Forester's is not only letting go the dire from on the air, pushing forward everything just basically something about actually putting the time back on the wheat. So So the advantage of using that method off the others is that you You know, exactly, we're going for your tangled. So if you have a note that this four bits long, you gonna put time back on exactly the fifth peak. So it's extremely accurate because anything you playing just has to be extremely accurate in terms of the rhythm and has to be husband needs to have a fixed length. How's list? We just gonna demonstrated that you can actually go with now. Three. So more than two. I'm just just trying. And then you can go from that stirred note back down. Make sure before proceeding to the three note exercise that you're really comfortable with bending size I was talking about before and that you also practice for at least a week or two. The TUNEL exercise. So all these three exercises will allow me to control lives much better, so sometimes come to to. For instance, Ben notes while playing solo on our while doing anything you know, musical what that requires the interpretation. Your muscle and your technique is going to be there to connect you more with the instrument . Have you enjoyed this video? I don't see you next time. 6. Major Scale on the Mouthpiece: hello and welcome to my Of course, they wouldn't play whole scale using just the mouthpiece before proceeding to keep in mind that this exercise those in the foundation of the previous exercises where we talk about hanging out, starting the note and playing two or three notes at the time. So just make sure that before we proceed to working on this one that you actually spends quite a decent amount of time on the previous ones. So please don't say a week or two, So let me just demonstrate we're going to do today. Okay, So what I just played was just a simple scale. In order to do something like this on the mommies need to find a bass note. So based on our case is gonna be a notice the lowest on going to find the lowest. You having the mumps itself? You just start on any note whatsoever that you think it's pretty low and then work your way down words until you find that the notice, not US stables. It's possible. And that's probably not the best know to start with, but, you know, just before the one. So we just fine find the lowest. No, I can start with them, Theo. You see, there's no this is strictly a little bit sound, so that's gonna be probably the best not to stop on. The reason for that is not real to get, you know, the sweet spot off off your undershirt, which means that it doesn't shake on the Northern is going too low. But it's like you're ambitious firm, and everything is nice and stay on. But the biggest reason is that you want to start low enough so that when you get to the top note, you don't end up, you know, to highs where you kind of read. If I than top, let's say, for some to see the topsy and one other thing to mention is that month. This is quite important all this. So if using mouthpiece that's, for instance, came with a saxophone, your first saxophone. Um, it's probably not the best month is to do it. That because most of these mouthpieces are for beginners on, they really don't have enough open. So it's gonna be much, much harder to do this exercise on a close mouthpiece. Um, some recommends getting some advice in a saxophone shop. They play the amount, not pieces like mayor cold Lakey Beechler as our technologies that you could definitely invest in before you put proceed during this offense exercise. So I'm once you find from that bottom note, you want to proceed on. Just keep playing a scale like you don't before with the tools of the time. And if you have some point, end up on closing throat on the safe. The 3rd 4th note probably do something wrong, so I'm just illustrate was from there. So if you go like thing or on then because it just squeaks, there's probably for it and stuff you over using your lower lip. So most of the time what happens is that especially beginners say that the higher they go, the higher they think us well would have creates this stuff. They press more and more with your lip, but that's has a limit to it, because eventually you're gonna close your throat so no higher knows, and that will appear. So you want to change the way you think and rather think forwards and not use your amber. Sure, too much so, but rather overused. Read your your your throat so remember we wouldn't play the bending exercise. You have to know the time on the way up. I told you, do not use your lower to go back but rather push the air forward. And it's exactly the same situation here to try to keep that in mind. I'm just in luxury Extensible time for you. I hope you enjoy this video and I'll see you next time.
