Have you ever seen patterns like these and wondered how on earth they are made? Ever thought you’d never be able to make a pattern so complicated?

Well actually, like everything else in life, once you know the trick to making these patterns, they are not that difficult at all!
In this class I will show you:
<ul>
<li>What is a Truchet tile and how it works</li>
<li>How to create different Truchet tiles</li>
<li>What is a symbol and how it works</li>
<li>How to use symbols to create Truchet patterns</li>
</ul>
I will also show you how to do a manual and random rotation and how to make a repeat pattern from your Truchet design.

As a bonus I will show you how to make a “maze” pattern!
This class is for intermediate students, or adventurous beginners, who would love to try something different.
It’s also perfect for pattern designers who love geometrical patterns or those who would like to add some geometrical patterns to their pattern collections but don’t want to spend ages trying to figure out how to set up a working repeat tile.
By the end of the class you will have acquired new skills and knowledge about some powerful Illustrator tools, such as symbols, that can be applied to other projects as well.
 For this class you will only need Adobe Illustrator and a good dose of creativity :-)
I have included a copy of the template in case you would prefer to download it.
To download the script I mention in the class click HERE (UPDATE on August 24: unfortunately the link is no longer working, I am trying to locate another site for the script).
