1. Welcome!: Hi, I'm Bria artist and an art teacher. I want to share my techniques that changes the way you think about drawing. Let's make drawing more enjoyable. My drawing method uses a simple logic. Off observation gives little ah ha moments of discovery and the sense off accomplishment you will love. Have to use oil tasters to color the birds with great depth on beauty. You will explore basic watercolor techniques to I haven't help you throw the process off drawing coloring on creating a concept, a book. Let's explore this logic. By the end of the course, you will be able to design and create a but our project. Let's school. 2. Flamingo line drwg: ready to stop? Yes. Now, I want you to take the printed PD of sheet to draw the line drawings. It's absolutely okay if you don't have the sheet, just take a plain sheet of paper on list. Help the name off the birds on the left side. We will be drawing the simple line drawings to the right side. Remember, this is not the final drawing. This is a reference drawing played school. The 1st 1 is a flamingo. Have you seen a flamingo? Okay, now let's imagine the picture off a flamingo in our mind on Let's think what comes to your mind when you think off Flamingo. Here are some reference pictures for your help. Fleming. Noise. Very cute, right. Okay. What are its special features? A special feature is something that makes the but unique or special from other birds. Yes, the special feature off a flamingo is the S shaped neck and the long legs. And did you notice It's big special too. It's bent down butts, and it has a black mark at the end. Okay. These are the discoveries wish we made on. Let's try to put them in our line drawing. Let's start with the head. Draw a simple circle for the head, and what comes next is the neck. Remember, this is a special feature off of a but and try to draw the s shape more clearly. Next comes the body draw an oval shape for the body. The body is big, so draw a big Coval. Remember, it has a tail feathers to, so let's draw a small triangle for the tail feathers. On DNA XT comes the legs. Yes, those are the special features and make them long and finally draw the special bleak. Remember, the beak is reshape and try to draw them like it's bent downwards. And don't forget the black mark on end off the Big Great. Did you notice that discovering the special features off this bird and adding them toe a very simple line drawing makes it looks like a flamingo? That's the power of suspicion. Feature. Let's go to the final drawing 3. Flamingo final drwg: Let's do the final drawing. Take a thick sheet of paper that can handle watercolors. Well, No worries. You can always refer to the materials list. Divide this. A four sheet of paper into six sections in a section would be drawing each. But this doesn't need to be bullfight. This is just for reference. Now we're going to drop off Flamingo in the bottom left box. Stop the head from the top off the books so that you have more space to draw a big flamingo . Draw a circle for the head to draw the leg. Always start the line from the top. Back off the head. Draw one big is shape for the next. Remember the special feature. Yes, draw another line following the first line, so this becomes the next try to make the neck a little broader. Where it meets the body. Now draw the big oval shape for the body triangle for the tail feathers. We are just drawing simple shapes at this stage. We'll refine them later. Now comes the special feature, The long legs. Let's make up a flamingo stand in one leg, draw one leg straight and for the next leg. Remember the letter for? For any bird standing in one leg. Remember to draw like letter forms. Right now, the Flamingo has a grip. Defeat. This is how we draw of the feet. Do you know Flamingo stance in one leg for most of the time. Any idea why it has been said that it stands in one leg for most of the time to reduce its body heat? Okay, next comes the big the next patient feature. Look at the close view off how I'm drawing the shape off the beach. The big off Flamingo has an interesting feature to Mm. It has a filtering structure. The filter food from the water. Okay, that's good. Now we're done with the most off the shapes. It's time to clean up. Thank you, Reza. It is the lines between the head and the neck. Then attend the body at some tail feathers. Body feathers on. That's it. Now take your black marker. Go around all your pencil lines of the black marker. Wow. A beautiful flamingo drawing 4. Flamingo coloring: Now it's the fun part. Let's color off flamingo. Everybody loves coloring. Four. Coloring the Flamingo. I prefer to use oil pistols off course. You can see the details in the materialist. If you want to use any other covering medium, feel free to experiment with that. Let's start coloring. We will need white, light orange, dark orange and red oil. Easter's for calorie, the head, neck and body off the Flamingo. Wonder why we need so many colors? You will know the answer for this question by the end off this video. Okay, we really to McCullough's speech and thing for coloring the beak and legs. I have one tip to tell you whenever you're using oil basters. Always keep a soft issue and clean the tip of the oil based ill before you start coloring. I am starting with white. Then I'm going with the light orange, then the dark orange and then red. So typically, I'm starting from the later colors at the top on as they go towards the bottom side, off the flamingo neck and body. I am using the darker shades after we fill up off flamingo, with the colors starting from lighter to darker shade. Now it's time to blend. Always use the lighter colors to blend the darker colors. Did you notice I have used the darker shade off orange Eldridge under the flamingo's body feathers? Yes, it gives great depth to offer coloring. Now is the answer to your question into refusing a single color for the drawing. If you use two or three or four shades off color, then your coloring will have great depth. Now you can complete the legs feet on the big with the pink and peach colors can use different colors other than what I have used here. Off course. Yes, try experimenting with the difference it off colors and make your flamingo stand out. 5. Penguin line drwg: Here comes the pain green as you should be. Start with a simple line drawing off the penguin before jumping into the final drawing on. Here are some pictures for our reference. Okay, we start from the head. The head is a circle on after the head fear drawing the body. The body is a big over. No, your We are not drawing a separate nick. So after drawing the body, let's draw rings. Keep them simple as you see in that offense. Pictures. After completing the wings, let's go in to draw the beef. That is a tip to draw the peak off. Penguins draw a small reshape inside the head. Draw a little bigger V shape outside the head joined the midline. Now you have a beak. Add the I and we are done with the line drawing off a penguin. If you're done with the line drawing, you will have most off the work done for the final drawing 6. Penguin final drwg: based on the line drawing reference off the penguin, we can start the final drawing off the penguin. Now we have already divided of, Ah, sheet into six parts for each bird. We are going to draw our penguin in the bottom right box. As usual, let's keep the line drawing as reference, and we start from the head. So a circle for the head and the next step is to draw the big oval shape for the body. And you would have noticed that we didn't draw the neck off the penguin in both the line drawing on Dhere. You will know why soon after drawing the boldly on, drawing the two wings on either side of the body, instead, off drawing the normal post, I want to make it a little more interesting. I'm drawing one off the rings differently to make it look like as if the penguin is waving at the Flamingo. Here is an interesting fact about the wings off the penguin. They are not used for flying, but they are used for swimming, so penguins cannot fly. But they're excellent, die worse and so we must the wings off the penguins are called us feet. Purse. Okay, now we draw the special feature. The beak. You know how to draw the beak already? Oh, draw a small reshape inside the head, a little bigger. Every ship outside the head joined with the line. You get a penguin beak now we draw the penguins belly. That's another oval shape. The next step is to clean up the big shape. You will have a lying inside the big That's the line for the head, so taken a razor and clean up. Also, here is the line joining the head and the body. Do you remember I told you? No need to draw a separate neck. Now this is the reason. If you join the head and the body, you will have the neck off the penguin. So that's it. Let's make it as a cute penguin. Try adding some hard like structures at the head your penguin will look cute on. Do you can add one more line. We need the flip us on. The last step is adding the feet. Penguin has a web feet. This is how we draw a feat. The last step is to draw a line on either side of the penguin to make it look like it's standing on a surface. Now take your black marker and go over all your pencil lines. Clean up the pencil lines on your done. 7. Penguin coloring: it's penguin coloring time. Let's start with coloring the belly off the penguin first, so we will be using soft colors for the belly and dark colors for the outside body. So let's have white beach and paying for the bill again, starting with a set off colors from lighter toe, a little darker color, so starting from white, then coloring with beach on. Then I'm coloring using ping to the bottom off the Betty. So after you use the three colors, let's blend the colors. As you know, blending is done using the lighter color. Okay, now, starting from the head, we are going to use white, so cover the head with white and we'll be using great on black for the body. So we start from the lighter color towards the darker color so used gray first, then color with black instead, off using black for the whole body, we are giving a slight variation by using gray. Okay, after completing three colors again blend. Using the lighter color coloring off the wings is from darker to lighter color, so we'll be using black near the body, then great then white, so again blend the colors. So for the underside off the rings you can use great. See how using three or four colors on bringing them is much more attractive than using a single color. The beak and the feet both amusing orange. And if you have the white cover over the eyes, you can use to pick to remove the white oil based in, so we are done. 8. Owl line drwg: line drawing often. Oh, what makes the old special from other butts? I think the head, the body are as same as the other birds, like a circle and oil. But the big angry eyes on the years are the special features of the So I decided to draw the front view, which shows the ice and the years much more clearly than the side boob. So I started my line drawing with the eyes so that I can draw big eyes and draw my face at on them. You can start with the face and draw the ice inside a the way it works. OK, the eyes. I want to make them look angry off sleepy just to give a little bit more character to the owl. So this is how I draw the eyes. Then around the eyes, I draw the face. The face, as usual, becomes a circle or even an oval shape, and for the body drove a big over joined over with head. So after the body, we can draw the things that the sites, as always, keep the shapes very simple, can draw our tail feather, make them small And now comes the special feature the years draw to finding shapes in the head on a the site. When it comes to beak, try to draw the beak triangle. I think we have enough information in our line drawing the further go bit of a final drawing. Let's do it. 9. Owl final drwg : drawing and out is going to be very interesting, and we have some fun facts to learn about all stew. Don't miss them. We are going to draw the foul on the top middle box off our paper. So let's start. Let's keep our line drawing for reference and start drawing out. Let's start from drawing the big eyes. Next step is drawing the head or the face. Draw the head around the eyes. After drawing the head, Start drawing the body. Body is a big over shape. Next step is drawing the wings on either side off the body, so let's give some dimension for the wings, some feather like structures at the end. So after finishing the wings, let's draw the small tail feather also, but a little dimension at the end. Let's complete the eyes as in the line drawing. We are drawing some sleepy eyes for the hour and after the eyes draw, trying for the beak and two triangles for the years, Do you know interesting fact the years off an owl or asymmetrical? They are not exactly in the same position on both sides off the head. Now it's time to add some more details into over drawing. So drawing some fed restructures or hard like structures at the top off the head on, erasing the line between the beak and correcting the shape off the big think. Let's correct the shape off the body and, at some lines inside the wings. Also, at some you ship fed the leg structures into the body. Another interesting fact about owls are they can turn their head almost 270 degrees. When drawing the feet, draw three lines on either side and close the lines. Now draw two lines for the trick or a branch touching the feet. That means it will look like the feet is holding the branch. Don't forget to add the sharp claws. Bring the branch for what? And move the bail for the backward by raising the line between the branch on the tail feather. Go over your drawing with a black marker on it. Raise any pencil lines on, that's it. Now we are done for the full drawing off the our great 10. Owl coloring: Let's color or grumpy Old. I'm starting with the yellow toe Braun family. You can use any other colors for the out. I'm starting with white, yellow, yellow, polka and dark brown. Restart coloring the head first, so starting from white at the top, going over with yellow, then yellow polka and brown towards the bottom off the head. - Use the lighter colors to blend them. I have used Dark Braun for the years to make them stand out. We will color the eyes and the beat later. Next is the body again, starting with the four colors white, yellow, yellow, polka and brown towards the bottom, - again using the lighter colors to blend some areas and coloring the wings in the same way, using the same set off colors. - I have used to colors for the tail feather, since the shape is very small and let's give some depth and dimension to the feathers. So inside the body we have U shaped feathers, right, so underside off the feathers tried to use the darker color. Here we have the dark brown so color layer off dark brown underside, the feathers that gives more depth to over coloring. I used beach for the eyelids, white for the eye and orange for the beak on the feet on Viagra 11. Parrot line drawing: Let's draw the next bird parrot among the parrot family. Let's choose the scarlet Macau, the most colorful one. The parrot is of 1/4 bird. Let's start the line drawing. Start with the head. Draw a circle for the head. We don't need a separate neck. Then comes the body. Go for an oval for the body. Nope, you're you're drawing the body almost straight so that we can draw the bird like it's sitting on a branch. After drawing the body draw triangle to get the shape off the wings. Barrettes also have long pay for the others. As a special feature, they are more distinct in parrot family, so if you observe the shape off the tail feathers, it roughly looks like a long triangle. So draw a long triangle for the Mobius days, said us. Next comes are more special part the beak. So look closely how I'm drawing the big. It's like drawing two bent triangles, one at the top and worn at the bottom. Make sure you draw the top triangle bit bigger than the smaller one, so you can take a closer look. Notice how the bird transforms into a parrot ones redraw the beak. That's the power off. Drawing the special feature. We're done 12. Parrot final drawing: pirate drawing, we are drawing our parrot in the top right box. Let's keep of a line drawing as reference, and let's stop stopping from the circle hit. Getting the oval shape for the body. Let's draw the oval shape a little bit oriented towards the vertical so that our parrot looks like it's sitting on a branch, then adding a small triangle at the back to get the shape off the wings. Next is adding the tail feather so the tail feather for the parents are very long. And here we are, referring Toa Macau. So draw a long triangle for the tail feather the triangle is facing down. Next is drawing of a most important special feature. The big the big is like a two triangle shapes 0.1 bigger and the bottom smaller. Add the ice on we're done. Bit of a basic shapes for the parrot. Let's refine the drawing for the now to make the drying look believable. So when joining the back off the head to the body, try to make it a straight line. But when you're joining the front off the head with the body, try to bend and girl along the oval shape. This step gives a believable, realistically looked over, drawing the next step drawing the V's. Raise the line, joining the oval on the triangle part and add the feather like structures now at some body feathers inside the oval shape. Let's draw more feathers for the Macao, so try drawing the feather shapes, starting from the back off the body and joining them. The words the front sight. So those are the layers off feathers on a layer off feather in the daily, too. So now I'm again defining the body shape. Next step is adding the feet. So for the first feet, draw three lines. Close the lines at the close for the second feet, repeat the steps, so draw two lines off the branch, touching the feet so that it looks like the Macau is holding on to the branch to make our McCall look you at some small feather like structures on the head. Now we are done with the refining, So take a black marker and go over all your pencil lines and clean it up. And what a beautiful Macau can't wait to color it 13. Parrot coloring: Barrett coloring time. Okay, Parrot is of a foot, but let's choose the colors off Scarlett Macau and no rules. We are going to start with a range of colors from red, dark orange, light orange, yellow, light green, light blue on, followed by that. Let's make it colorful. Play with the colors. Use a tissue, the plane, the colors. Since its college mako, let's start with the dark red from the head. And no, we are not using white here. So Calado had doctorate, then coming on to the next color darker orange, then coloring with the lighter orange for the next part. Next is yellow and from pure. I am coloring on Lee the wing. I'm not coloring the body yet, so yellow is followed by light green, going to light blue and then dark blue. So now I have completed the coloring Off the wings. You can blend the colors using the later colors. So now for the body I'm using red again, and blending the red with orange for the Macao tail is also very colorful. Let's stick to red orange and then for the bottom set off feathers. Let's try dark blue and light blue As usual, you can try with your own set of colors. Have fun. Remember how we used the darker colors to get some depth in the feathers or flamingo on owl ? Let's use the same technique here for the Macao. I'm trying with light blue first, but I'm not getting the dark atone. So I chose a dark blue, the color under the feathers. See how it gives greater depth. I'm using the darker red to give depth under the whole thing. So for the I, I used white for the beak. I want to use a lighter color, so I chose beach. Same color for the feet, too. An interesting fact about parrots. Everybody can grab its foot by its feet, but one lee, a parrot, can pull the foot and bring it me. Rigsby. That means their feet act like our hands, and parrots are considered as one off the most intelligent birds 14. Toucan line drawing: two can line drawing. Look at the pictures. What stands out off course? The long, brightly colored bead, right? Yes. Let's drive. Two can ease our fifth birth. Yes, start from head. Keep the shape. Simple body is an or draw a triangle for the wings. Then comes the tail. It has very sharp tail. Let's not go into the details. Just draw the outline. It's like a small triangle. Then comes the most special feature. The beak, Not the big, is very broad and long. Draw a straight line then Ben the line Don't words at the end. Same goes for the bottom line and draw a line in the middle. Draw a dot For the I Onda, we have blind drawing off to. 15. Toucan final drawing: we have filled up off a four sheet beautiful butts. Let's draw token in the top left box, keeping our line drawing as a reference. Let's start with the head. Draw the oval shape for the boldly, almost vertically, like how we did for the parrot. We are adding a small triangle at the back off the body to get the shape off the wings, then comes off a tail feather. We are drawing a simple shape to represent the short tail feather off the toca. The big is the most prominent special feature off a toucan. Draw the beak long and broad at the end of the beak. Draw a small, C lettered shape. Draw the ice now off. A basic structure is ready. We are going to refine this further as done with the barrette. Connect the back off the head with the body, using a straight line and chronic the front off the head. With the body going along the shape off the over, he raised the line, joining the head and the body. Correct your line to get the wing shape. He raised the line, joining the small triangle on the oval shape. Add some feather like structures. Adding body feathers to you may add some feathers inside the body. Now it's time to refine the tail. We are going to separate the base off the tail into three parts, looking like feathers. The toucan has a white or a pale, yellowish structure in the head on the chest. So let's add that draw a line covering the I on the chest. Next step is adding the feet, so draw three lines. Close the lines at the close. Repeat to get the second feet. Draw two lines, joining the feet line so that it looks like it's holding on to the branch. Extend the branch to the other side off the but as usual, grab your black marker and oak lined your token. Clean up Andi are done. 16. Toucan coloring: it's really a treat to color the toucan. As the body is almost black, we will be using a combination of great and black for the body. But beware. When you're using a black oil pistol. It makes much the other colors, so let's color the bright parts first before coloring the body. The beaks are very colorful. You can choose any set off colors, but make sure you use verity off colors to make it really colorful. I'm choosing yellow green light blue orange on red. The token has a bright hello pot in the neck on the chest, so let's color it first. I'm using combination off yellow and like green color. That part I'm forced, coloring the top part off the big. Starting from inside the outside, I'm using yellow, light green, orange and red. You can use a different combination off colors. Make sure they are bright after covering the top part of the big I'm coloring the bottom part. I'm using light blue on green combination. We all know a tokens. Big is very big, right, but actually it's not ask. Heavy as it looks on, the big helps to manage the body heat off a toucan. Next step is coloring the body. I'm starting with black from the head towards the next. Since I want to give some dimension to the feathers, I'm not coloring everything black. I'm coloring the wings great, blending the grave with the black to get some darker shades. Then the entire body isco a bit black. You can use the doctor should black underneath. They're fed us. Get some depth. Finally, for the tail feather. I'm starting with black on, using grey again, using gray to blend the colors. The toucan has a colorful part around the eye, so let's use blue for the eye on blue for the feet are to Ken looks very colorful. We have successfully completed drawing on coloring our five boats. 17. Congrats: Now we have five birds. A flamingo penguin. How, Barrett. And but you can do you know what comes next? We have an empty box, Remember? You are going to draw any bird off. Your choice on this is going to be an assignment. Whatever you learned in the previous sections, you're going to put them into use in this assignment. Let's do it. 18. Swan: my assignment, bird. This one I wrestled the pictures made discoveries about the special features off this man, Andi. I did a line drawing based on that with the line drawing as reference. I did the final drawing. I corrected the lines on open line using a bluff in. Then I call it my spot. You're drawing off. Swan need not look exactly as mine. It can be in your own unique style. So now we have six beautiful birds in our sheep. 19. Background Drawing-step 1: Now we have drawn thes birds on. Do you have learned the technique to draw many more? So what are we going to do with this? But at work, it will be more meaningful toe create a comprehensive project using these birds. What project have you planned to do? He can be an enrollment like a forest, or it can be a but Bach, where we have all types off birds. Let's start creating now. You race all the separation lines in between the birds. Let's start from the penguin. We have drawn lines on either sides off the penguin. Let's extend that. Since we have the Flamingo on Swan in the bottom off picture, let's make them look like they are inside the water. So let's draw a line looking like the riverbank. Draw some more lines imitating the waves in the water. You can draw some blades off grass and rocks on the riverbank, but make sure the shapes are big and clear. We had drawn the background sittings off the bottom three birds. We have three birds at the top off picture. Let's draw dead background, too. I'm starting from the parrot. We have drawn the streak already, so let's extend them to the right side some more. Remember your picture me really according to size off the bird, but you have drawn. So try drawing a background in the Roman that is suitable according to your space. Now we're extending the branches on which the birds are sitting on. Remember to make the size of the branches smaller. As you go near the tip off the branch.
