About This Class

Hello blissful people, and welcome to the class! :)

• In this class you will learn how to make 4 different TIE DYE (batik or Shibori) its an amazing technique to create colorful patterns on textiles.

We will be applying this technique to Cotton Tote Bags just using string and rubber bands.

• I will be using Acrilex Fabric Paint, its excellent to paint on fabrics especially cotton. It is made in Brazil and has been in the market for many years.

    • Wash-resistant
    • Excellent coverage
    • Cold fixation
    • Intermixable colors
    • Ready for use
    • Higher yield
  • Can be applied with brush, sponge or rubber stamp, on cotton fabrics only (non-synthetic).
  • Wash the fabric only 72 hours after application.

The reason I chose these type of paint is because the colors are really vibrant, and it sticks really nice to the textile. You can wash as many times as you want, the color will not fade after washing.

Also they have a enormous range of colors, Matt, Metallic and Glitter.

You can find them online or look in your local craft store for some fabric paint.. :)

• You will also so learn the different materials you need for this project. I will show you step by step the process.

♦ I will leave a list below of the materials.

• In the end of this class you will be able to easily dye your own totes bags or any cotton textiles you want.

So join me and lets have some fun playing around with colors on textiles.

♥ So please give it a try at this technique, and create unique gifts for your self or someone special!

I would love to see your projects and how they turn out, every one is unique! :)

1. Introduction: Hello and welcome to my studio. My name is Sicily and I'm in the illustrator and designer. I'm here to teach you how to my kind. I told bags together we're going to explore this technique making for different better. So I'm going to show you the different materials we are going to need for this project. And I will teach you step by step. How to my the tide I tote bags. So please try me the next you if you want to make unique and beautiful tote bags. 2. Materials: Hello and welcome to the class. So here are the materials were going to use. We will need a bowl so we can wet the total backs. This is the caller applicator bottle. We have some gloves, a measuring cup, some alcohol, the tote bag, the string He sees the fabric caller Caro the bull, see? And the yellow gold. This is the green Pasto, the pink pistols, the yellow pistol and purple pestle color some Caesar's and a plastic to cover your table so you don't get mess on your table. So here they are. All the materials we will need for the last today. I hope you enjoy seeing the next video. 3. Spiral Pattern - Yellow Gold: Hello, guys. And welcome to the class. We're going to do the spiral pattern with the color yellow gold, So I already have my bowl with cold water. Now I'm going to submerge the tote bag in the water. I'm going to give it the wash so that we can take off the excess dust from the store and we will need it really wet. So the ink real spread easily. Just give it a little squeeze, squeeze off the excess water and there we put it on the table and we're going to spread it out on the table. Just stretch it, give it a little stretch, and with my two fingers, I pitch it in the middle and make a spiral movement. And with the other hand, I help the tote bag going to place with the spiral movement. There it goes. Well, now we press it a little bit and get the rubber bands. So with these rubber bands, we're going to put them all around the tote bag so that this Parral won't open and ruing our design. I'm pulling them like in across horizontally, then want vertically. Then we pulled diagonally so we could create um, little triangles that we're gonna feel inward color. Just put some more so that the took back doesn't get off the better. So there we have it done. Now it's ready to receive the point. So next step, we're going to prepare the point for the topic. So we job like seven drops Off Inc in the bottle. There really pretty color that gold Yellow? No. But we will be having the alcohol 35 milliliters sported in the bottle with ink a little bit more, and we're going to mix it up. But first I have to put on the gloves. It's time to get messy, so we need to put on the gloves. Don't forget to put on the gloves. So now we're gonna mix it. It was looking for a day. Now we're going to mix it up so that the ink will dissolve in the alcohol because you Tilly , till, um, tick the ink. We needed more liquefied stories. So now I'm going to shake it. We're going to shake you. Don't forget to put the finger in the hole and shake. Shake it, shake it, shake it. So, after shaking it, the increase prepared to for on the tote bag, just making sure that it is in place. Okay, now we feel up the triangle sections. I'm going to start by doing some lines in the sections, and then I will flip it, Philip it and do the other side also doing the lines in the sections way, the lines that I'm going to feel in the triangle sections with all the color that I have just feel it in So we will create a really pretty better. I really loved to open it in in the finish and see the different patterns that we can create. With this technique, every talk back is unique, so it's every time is a surprise. Just feel it. It went all the caller, and I'm just using up all the color that I have left in my bottle there and and the just a little bit more just using all the color that I have left. And there Anderson. Now I give it a little press so that the ink will spread. Now press it good, flip it over and press it. Now it's done. Our first viral told bay with the yellow gold color. So now we're going to set it aside. I laid down on the floor a plastic bag and I'm going to put it on and let it dry for 72 hours. Onley. After that hours, we will open the pattern. Otherwise it will ruin the pattern. Okay, so see you in the next video by 4. Square Pattern - Blue Ocean: Hello and welcome to the second part of the class in this one. I'm gonna teach you how to make the square pattern using the blue Ocean in. So we just repeat the same process from the previous lesson, and we're going on a wet the tote bag and take off the dust. We're gonna make the pattern anti prepare and apply the ink and let it dry for 72 hours. So, as you can see already have my tote bag wet. Now I'm going to stretch it on the table. Just stretch it good. And now I'm going to fold it vertically. Fold it again. This full it again and again. Just fold it until the end. No, squeeze it a little bit and we're gonna take some string inside. So I begin by tying here at the end. Just all around site. Really nice. You doing little? Not And there our first section square. Now we take a little bit more string and let's tie again. So what's it's I again? Yes, all around us. Just put the string around around around the textile and give it a little luck. I know I use a little often I don't want I like little things. I guess now we're going to take another string in Teigen for our toured square Just around . Leave it like five centimetre centimeters or something Started are around. So we are left with a protected little space off fabric so they think won't go there. There. No, Take another string and tie it again. Our final not just pass it all around and as you can see and give it enough No, the handles I'm gonna tight also a little bit right in the middle. And we're going to tight and give it a little luck. So staged The bag is ready for receiving the ink. I'm gonna put it in a U shape there. Now we're going to prepare the I'm using the ECHR Alexe ocean blue fabric paint. So now we're going to prepare the point. We're going. Teoh, drop seven drops of ink inside the bottle. Just enough to cover the bottom of the bottle. It's really a nice caller. That blue really, really nice. Now we're going to add alcohol. 25 milliliters off alcohol. Put it inside, and now we're going to stir it a little bit by shaking so that the paint the souls with the alcohol. Now we put on the and put your finger in the hole and chicken. Just shake the bottle for a little while. Sold. Inc Will. Will this solve with alcohol? And there it's ready to apply. Now. I'm doing some stripes in the sections avoiding Did not guess, keep doing some lines when they're in the handle. Some mingle, so no, we flip it and a piles, also with the lines, keep through some lines in the sections, avoiding the nuts, avoiding where the string is. Sometimes there's a little shake, so just keep applying dink in the blanks basis, avoiding the knots. You want to cover all the blanks basis? A. Love it. They're in the handles. No, I just sleep with again and feel out the blank spaces that I missed. Great dink, that I just squeeze a little bit so that I'm pressing dink against the talk back so it will spread more my like to press, press it, press it and apply morning. He knows Blank's basis so that when we open, it will create square effect. Now I'm just using Old Inc. I have left in the bottle? Yes. Randomly covering the blank spaces. There. Now, just squeeze it. And there we go. We have the square pattern blue bag. Prepare. Now we're going to leave it to dry for 72 hours, and then we'll open it and see what we have. This is a really fun process because every told bank or every tried I we make. It's a different pattern. We never know what we'll get. It's really fun. I hope you enjoyed the class and see you in the next Better Thank you and bye bye. 5. Rainbow Pattern - Coral: so Hello, guys. In Welcome to the third class and this one. I will teach you how to make the rainbow pattern with the caller carro. So we just repeated in the process we were at the tote bag. Take it off the dust. Um, we're going to make the pattern rainbow, and then we'd side. Then we prepared Inc and apply it and let it dry for 72 hours. So I already have my tote bag wet and I stretch it in the table. So in the bottom, a real pinch it in the middle and pull out the fabric, creating, um, a role. A fabric. Now I'm just gonna twist it a little bit so that it holds in place, the the better, and I will get the string. Start the time they're start tying sections. Poor little all around rep. It told her own and tied. And by tie in this in this for But we will have ah, rainbow patch in even though I'm using only one caller. If you put different colors in the different sections, you will get a rainbow. So no, just cut up some string and let's tie or not and rep it around the sections. I want to create, like five sections off fabric so we can paint on. That's it. Just tie and wrap around the tote bag. It's really important that we don't get any ink in the wrapping area, otherwise it will not caused the effect we want. So again, which is going to do another section. We get the string, cut it, we tie or not and re wrapped around it again way are wrapping around and tying. This is a really cool effect The rainbow effect. I love this technique. You can also apply it to T shirt to leggings for any piece of fabric that you want. Yes, I don't know what to do with it. Just leave it there. So again we're gonna good. A little strength. Could it time, right? Just I in right guys. So we have, like, five sections to put the ink on. If you had $5 it will be five coloring book. But I would be only using one called the coral color. It's hard to say Karl cold. So in Portuguese court would all if you're wondering so just tied the final. Not And now we're going to the handles, just rep it in and get a new string and site ty and wrapped around it. I hope you guys are enjoying my classes and I'm hoping to see your tote bags are T shirts or whatever. Thanks. I really want to pain. It's really fun process and really relaxing also. So I'm just trying to find a lot. And there we have the rainbow pattern ready to receive e. It's joyful. Thank Carl. So now I'm going to prepare the the So there. I got my bottle. There's a lovely color, Carl. Oh, could all. So let's just put in the bottle. Seven drops of ink just enough to cover the bottom like that, as you can see. Yeah, I just confirming if it's enough. No, let's get alcohol and put on 35 milliliters of alcohol in the bottle. There, that's enough. So marry, put the cover. Put your finger on the the whole, and let's shake it so that the colors can the color and the alcohol can be solved because it's a tick paint, and we needed to be a liquefied to apply in the tote bag to make the tight. I effect there. Now let's apply in the sections, going to make lines. I always make lines in the sections with the color. Just make lines in the blank sections. It's really bright color, really lovely. They're down. We just feel all the sections that are blank with the color. We flipped the talk back and colored the blank sections, avoiding always avoiding where the knots are, where the string is. Otherwise, it will not create the effect we want. So be careful. So let's just put on the collar in the blank sections. That's cola is really, really bright, lets you how it turns out in the end. So now I'm just feeling the blank sections that I see, Um, and yet just keep on feeling, and I think that's it. Just give it a little squeeze so that we pressed the color against the textile. So now it's ready to go and dry for 72 hours. Um, thank you for watching the video. I hope to see you in the next lesson. We're going to create the crumple pattern with passel colors. Uh, I hope I explained easily for you to learn these techniques. And if you have any questions or any doubts about the things I used. The techniques. Just leave a comment below, and I will try to reply s fast as I can. Teoh, answer your questions about this technique. So, uh, see, on the next lesson and by 6. Crumple Pattern - 4 Pastel Colors: Hello, guys. And welcome to the fort part off the class. We're going to be making the crumple pattern today with four passel colors. I hope you join me and enjoy the class. Thank you. We're going to repeat the same process. We were the tote bag. We make the pattern, entire the textile re prepare and apply the ink. Then we let it dry for 72 hours and it's done. So I really have my talk back wet. I laid on the table, stretch it out and now we scrunch it together. Like to make a bowl off texter roughly in there. Just scratch it. We get the band's inside the effect together Texas so it doesn't open. When we applied the die, just put around them around all the edges so that the back stays in place there. One more. They're one crumple pattern to go. So I'm I have this little told back that I'm going to do also the crumple pattern and again just laid down on the table and just scrunch it together. And then we go Mr Little one excreted and just put a little rubber bands around. Sold that the the took back. There's an open when we put the die on excreted some more reverence and they're done. I also made the one a spiral little took bag. Now we're going to prepare the inks. Today, we're going to be using four ink, so we're going to prepare four times the ink. Um, As you can see, we have the purple Pasto, the green Pasto, the yellow pestle and the big Vestel. I'll be preparing now, the pink Peissel just using, like, seven drops or 50 15 millimeters off die. And then we're going to put the alcohol and 35 milliliters of alcohol goes in. The motto now is just shaking. Don't forget to put your finger in the hole and shake, shake, shake So that ink and alcohol real dissolved together, creating a more liquefied die for us to use now onto the purple life. These, uh, paso colors the smell like baby parlor. Do you really smell nice? Yes. So just preparing again The ink This one doesn't want to come off and again, we're going to put the alcohol and and close it and shake it again. So and now, um, I'm going to use first that these two colors the pink in the purple. Um, and then after I will lose the other sue. So first I pick up the pink one, and I do little spots of die randomly, Um, in the tote bag. Also, the other one, I will do the same. Just randomly put spots off die in the cold bay. The other one is the spider one, and I'm just coloring the sections. Um, we die color two sections with So now we're going into the purple one. Also applying, like, um, only fill spots auf die. That one needed a shake and again and the other one just creating likely fill spots of die so that we can create the crumple effect in the tote bags in the other one. I just feeling the triangle sections with the purple alongside off the pink. Now we flip it over and do the same just randomly, uh, putting up spots off die in the tote bag. I hope they turn up nice. They're going to use for different die. So a hope they will be very pretty. And there I think I'm done using up all the light off the purple bottle. Now into the pink one and again just randomly spread it out, doing some spots and the other one just feeling the section trying. I just have a little bit more ink in just I use it all up trying at those blank spots. But remember to leave some room for the other two colors and that that's it done. Now we're going to prepare the other two guys the yellow and the green Pasto Um, and we're going to feel out the blank spots with spots of ink. Just surrender, only spreading it out the yellow one, um, in the spiral ni just feeling in the sections off the triangle now in with the blue. Also randomly feeling out the blank spots bait spot okay into the other bag. Also the same process and that, um, just fill out the sections into your the spiral on the bill. Sleep the old Becks over and adding in with the yellow, creating the spots just randomly spreading out the die. Um, in all the told bags, which is filling in the blank spots with yellow dye until you use up all the ink in the bottle. Now in with the blue blue green, I guess, Um just random wing, spreading it out in spots, feeling out the little link space is we can see. And the other one we will feeling the triangles, sections and again Just wasting all the thinking that told backs juice randomly placing the ink in on There it goes. Now we press it so that, um, Dink well spread more in the tote bank repress again because he is something can see something getting out. So we press it and there it's done, and I will leave it to dry for 72 hours. After that, there's a process. We wash it, then we dry it. And then we I read and they already to use. So I'm going to show them already prepared in the next feed. You, uh, thank you for watching. And I'll be seeing you see the next one by 7. Final Project: Hello, guys. And thank you so much for watching my place. I hope you learn a lot about the tide. I technique and I hope, See your projects. Hey, guys. So here, I'm just showing you how I unwrap them. Just cut up the string and take the rubber bands off. After this process, I will wash them, let them to dry and iron them because they got a lot of wrinkles on it. So after that, you can use them, go out shopping and use the tote bags. So here they are, the yellow one, the Karl and the blue one all ready to use. They look really nice. Um, and the next I'm going to show you the pass on one Look at that. Cute E. They look really, really nice. So, uh, just to tell you that if you feel let that the talk back, um doesn't has that much caller and you wanted to have more pigment, just repeat the process and make sure you get the ink on the spots that you want to have more color. So, guys, I just wanted to share with you that I've done some tight I dishes before with using the same techniques and inks. Um, I hope you like them. I also do the cuts. I cut them to myself, and I tied them. Um, and yes, the these are how they turn out. Uh, if you want a class on how to tie dye T shirt, please just tell me and I'll be happy to make a new class on this subject. Okay? So even though the tote bags look great on their own just with the title I technique, I'm not going to leave them like this. I'm going to apply stencil. So join me on. I will teach you how to make the standstill and apply it to the top back. Or you can apply it to anything you want, Like a T shirt or other types of textile. Um, this is the one I'm going to use for the yellow. It's gonna be beans. It's gonna be, uh, So join me for the next place. Okay. See you later. Bye.
