About This Workshop
Intrigued by ink? You’re in the right place! In this workshop you’ll join three unique ink artists to learn some fundamentals, explore creative approaches to ideation, and get an introduction to more advanced techniques for adding flair and polish. Complete beginners will enjoy accessible, helpful lessons designed for all levels, while more advanced artists will enjoy context, experiential tips and tricks, and discovering new ways of thinking about your ink work. All you need for this workshop is paper, pencils, and the ink pens of your choice.
Workshop Timeline
- Milestone 1: In Postcards from Here: Playing With Ink, you’ll join illustrator Dylan Mierzwinski for a fun and explorative introduction to basic inking. Put your new skills into practice by designing four postcards that each tell a travel story. Share your postcards in the Project Gallery by March 18th.
- Milestone 2: Next up, in Inspiration to Illustration: Creating Personal and Iconic Artwork you’ll join street illustrator and muralist Eric Friedensohn (Efdot) for an immersive class about finding your voice. Venture out and look for inspiration, use positive and negative space to communicate your ideas, and find joy in the creative process. Note that you have the option to use paint for this class but we recommend sticking with ink. Share your work in the Project Gallery by March 27th.
- Milestone 3: Last but not least, join illustrator Roman Muradov in Illustrating with Ink: Techniques for Brush and Pen. Now that you’ve got some ink basics and have thought through the “why” behind your work, it’s time to get serious with more advanced techniques. Still beginner accessible with a review of fundamentals, this class can help you develop your skills and illuminate the path towards mastery. Share your illustration in the Project Gallery by April 6th.
