There’s a famous saying in photography: “The best camera is the one you have with you.” For many of us, that’s the iPhone. Fortunately, iPhones are powerful machines capable of taking world-class pictures, if you know how to use them. Join accomplished photographers Dale McManus and Tyson Wheatley as they guide you through the wonderful world of mobile photography — from lighting and location to editing for Instagram. This workshop is for photographers at any level who want to improve their mobile photography skills and build their brand on Instagram.
Timeline
- Milestone 1: In iPhone Photography: How to Take Pro Photos on Your iPhone, Dale McManus teaches you everything you need to know to create stunning images without fancy equipment. This class covers composition, lighting, photographic storytelling, and editing with Lightroom (a free app). Share your photographs in the project gallery by June 6th.
- Milestone 2: Next up, in Mobile Photography Basics for Instagram Success, a Skillshare Original, Tyson Wheatley briefly reviews some photographic best practices before sharing a list of his favorite apps and some insider Instagram strategy. What makes an Instagram feed stand out? Learn how to begin (or continue) building your Instagram brand with best practices from a celebrated influencer. Share your photographs in the project gallery by June 17th.
- Milestone 3: Finally, in How to Create a Cohesive Instagram Feed, Dale is back to explore Instagram branding with filters, colors, and layout. You may have noticed how popular feeds seem to have a look and feel all their own. You can achieve this too, with some simple editing and a commitment to a consistent aesthetic that works for you and your brand. Share an image of your new, cohesive feed in the project gallery by June 25th.
- Bonus Class: Interested in following your curiosity further? In Styling Food for Instagram: Creating Collages, a Skillshare Original with Julie Lee, you’ll play with your food and your new photography skills! This class is perfect for any and all foodies, artists, and photo aficionados looking for a unique way to make an exciting image for Instagram.
