Welcome to Mapping Your Experience!
I'm excited the class has enrolled a good number of students very quickly and I'd like to provide as much support as possible. This two-week workshop (February 27-March 13, 2016) is going to allow you to work with a little more structure as I will guide you through the various steps of the insight mapping process.
I was considering doing one or more AMA (Ask Me Anything) sessions during the course of the two weeks. For those of you new to Skillshare, an AMA is a live support session using the class community/discussion forum. However, I can't tell what days/times would work best for all of you so I'm opting for the AMAA, which stands for Ask Me Anything Anytime and you will get an answer within 24 hours (more likely much faster than that).
There are two ways for you to ask questions or post comments (at any time, not just during the workshop period):
1) Post a question or comment in the community area, where other students are most likely to see your post and engage in a conversation with you; others would also see my responses/comments;
2) Post a question or comment in your project area for this class. If you want me to see it, make sure to check the privacy setting on your project. If it's set to "Me only", then you're the only one who can see it and I wont' be able to comment or answer questions.
Here's what will happen when you sign up for the workshop: You will receive a series of support and motivational messages throughout the two-week period with deadlines for specific tasks and reminders. It's that simple!
Here are the key dates within the two-week workshop
Workshop Launch on Saturday, February 27, 2016
Your Initial Brainstorming Notes are due on March 2, 2016
Your first DRAFT INSIGHT MAP is due on March 6, 2016
Your final Insight Map is due on March 13, 2016
I estimate that you can complete the project in a couple of hours total (plus or minus 30 minutes if you want to install CmapTools to use concept mapping software), but it's useful to do it in steps because the brain keeps working on it while you're doing other things and when you come back to it you'll have new insights.
It doesn't have to be a complex map. Sometimes simple is better. I look forward to helping you complete your first insight map!
