As an artist, you play a crucial role in the public conversation — and in this workshop, you'll build your creative toolkit to spark social change. Never before in history have we seen such widespread global activism: the movement for racial justice, a global pandemic sparking critical debate about access to healthcare, a landmark US Supreme Court ruling for LGTBQ+ rights, an existential fight against the threats of climate change, and more. In so many ways, this is a moment to take a stand, and use your voice and your art to advocate for the change you want to see.
This workshop will give you vocabulary, techniques, and example prompts for using your work for social good. You'll find inspiration in the history of political protest; become more connected to the power of art for change; and learn how to use collage and type to create evocative, meaningful, attention-grabbing posters that speak to our collective moment.
You’ll need access to Photoshop for this workshop, and some basic familiarity with the program. Note that the only project is to create one final poster, but you’re encouraged to also share work-in-progress along the way!
