About This Workshop
Creative skill and business acumen don’t always go hand-in-hand, and that’s ok! In this workshop you’ll join two creative professionals for an inside look at how to build an income as an artist, and how to manage the income you build. This is a fun, practical, and accessible workshop for artists of all kinds who need some guidance and motivation to transform their work into their livelihood. You don’t need any special tools or supplies for this workshop. Great for aspiring artist entrepreneurs at all levels.
Workshop Timeline
- Milestone 1: First up, join illustrator and entrepreneur Brooke Glaser in Make a Living as an Artist: Strategies for Crafting Your Creative Business. You’ll start by clarifying what your dream business looks like, based on your goals and lifestyle. Then, you’ll examine your work and skills to find your niche. You’ll learn how to stay motivated, create systems to keep your business running smoothly, and find clients interested in your work. Share your work, business ideas, and strengths in the Project Gallery by April 20th.
- Milestone 2: Now that you’ve learned how to make money, learn how to manage it with photographer and entrepreneur Justin Bridges in Modern Money Habits: 5 Steps to Build the Life You Want, a Skillshare Original. In our world of apps, podcasts, and opinions, it’s hard to know whether you’re asking the right questions, or getting the right answers. Justin, a Wall Street professional turned professional photographer, breaks down the 5-step approach that allowed him to leave his finance job to pursue a creative career. Share your goals and accomplishments in the Project Gallery by May 4th.
