About This Workshop
Join design stars Dan Kuhlken and Nathan Goldman (DKNG) for a three-class portfolio-building workshop. Over the next four weeks, you’ll unlock new skills and styles while you produce impressive work that highlights your versatility. Create a geometric vector illustration of an animal, a 3D isometric city block, and a poster for your favorite rock band. This workshop is perfect for practiced illustrators, emerging designers, and anyone looking to improve their Adobe Illustrator skills.
Submit a project for each class in this workshop to be entered into the DKNG Favorite Project Contest! Dan and Nathan will choose their favorite project, and its creator will be awarded a free year of Skillshare Premium Membership.
Timeline
- Milestone 1: Learn simplicity of form in Illustration for Designers: Create Your Own Geometric Animal. Then, put that new perspective to the test as you sketch and illustrate an animal of your choice. From initial sketch to final vector illustration, Dan and Nathan guide you through color choice, alignment, texture, and more. Gain insight into their process and create a thoughtful, distilled illustration that puts it all into practice. Share your animal in the project gallery by June 6th.
- Milestone 2: Add dimension to your work with 3D isometric illustration! In 3D Illustration: Creating Isometric Designs in Adobe Illustrator, you’ll create a 3D city block. This class will help you expand your creative horizons and push your technique while you create an eye-popping addition to your portfolio. Share your illustration in the project gallery by June 17th.
- Milestone 3: Finally, excite fans and captivate fans-to-be with a rock poster for your favorite band. In Rock Poster Design: From Concept Development to Execution, you’ll learn how to identify your best ideas, and then develop them with sketches, drafts, and feedback. Discussion is a focus for this class, so be ready to share your thoughts on your fellow students’ work as you all strive to create inspired posters. Share your thoughts in the discussion tab and your poster in the project gallery by June 25th.
