Kickstart your creativity with this fun, 4-week drawing workshop! We’ll complete a series of three classes that are jam-packed with exercises designed to help you find inspiration, polish your illustration skills, and cultivate a style that’s entirely your own. Along the way, we’ll complete project prompts and share work for feedback. Whether you’re an illustration pro or haven’t drawn since grade school, you’re sure to walk away from this workshop with some fun new tricks.
Workshop Timeline:
Milestone 1: First up, we’ll start sketching with Sketchbook Illustration for All: Draw Your Day with Watercolor & Pen. In this class, illustrator Samantha Dion Baker shares how you can transform your creative practice by keeping a daily sketch journal. In under an hour, she covers how to approach layout, find inspiration, and create loose illustrations that document your daily life. At the end, you’ll create the first page of your sketchbook and share it in the project gallery by April 10th.
Milestone 2: Next up, we’ll explore how to turn emotion into empowerment with illustrator and writer Mari Andrew’s class Drawing as Self Discovery: 5 Ways to Start. In this class, Mari guides you through simple, fun exercises that will help you go deep, reflect on your emotions, and visualize your dreams for the future. You’ll select one of your drawings and share it in the project gallery by April 19th.
Milestone 3: Lastly, we’ll complete Making Your First Zine: From Idea to Illustration with Kate Bingaman-Burt. This 45-minute class is full of history, ideas, and illustration tips to free your imagination and help you create an awesome, empowering little piece of print. By the end, you’ll have your own one-page zine to share in the project gallery by April 29th.
