You’ll follow three unique artists as they share their approaches to the medium and cover everything from selecting the best supplies, basic brushstroke techniques, illustration textures and more. You’ll share your progress along the way by completing a series of prompts designed to help create your own style. So what are you waiting for? Workshop Timeline:
- Week 1: We’ll start by learning the basics in Ink Drawing Techniques: Brush, Nib, and Pen Style from award-winning Japanese illustrator Yuko Shimizu. From selecting the best materials to digging into inking textures and styles, both the novice artist and the established inker will benefit from this class. At the end, you’ll create your own textured ink drawing and share it in the project gallery by December 3rd.
- Week 2: Next up, we’ll dive in further with Roman Muradov’s class Illustrating with Ink: Techniques for Brush and Pen. Roman shares warm-up exercises and experimental techniques designed to help you master this delicate and subtle medium. You’ll incorporate two (or more!) of the techniques you’ve learned into your project, which you will share in the project gallery by December 10th.
- Week 3: Finally, we’ll take a bold approach with illustrator Ira Marck’s class Ink Illustration: Bold Lines & Fearless Style. Through a series of exercises, Ira looks deep into the styles of the artists that have inspired his own work. Along the way, you’ll discover how to build stronger compositions, ink bolder lines, and utilize your inspiration to develop a style all your own. For your final project, you’ll create an illustration inspired by one of your favorite illustrators and share it in the project gallery by December 17th.
