About This Workshop
Learn how to effectively and efficiently use Adobe Illustrator to create amazing designs in this 4-week workshop. You’ll complete a series of handpicked classes, get a behind the scenes look at how design pros work, and put your new skills to the test by completing specific prompts and exercises. Whether you’re still getting familiar with Illustrator or are a seasoned designer, this workshop will help you dive deeper into your favorite tools, speed up your workflows, and make better designs.
Workshop Timeline:
- Milestone 1: We’ll start by exploring one of the most popular tools in Adobe Illustrator - the pen tool - in illustrator Scott Martin’s class Vector Illustration: Drawing with the Pen Tool. Scott shares how you can use the pen tool to transform your sketches into crisp and scalable vector images. Then you’ll create your own vector image and share it in the class’s project gallery by February 25th.
- Milestone 2: Next up we’ll complete Adobe Illustrator: Give the Pen Tool a Day Off. In this class, designer Hayden Aube will take you through a few less commonly-used tools and techniques that will give you new ways of approaching your work. For your project, you’ll create any illustration you want without using the pen tool and share it in the class’s project gallery by March 5th.
- Milestone 3: Next, you’ll transform your Illustrator workflow with Illustrator Basics: The Shape Builder Tool. Dylan Mierzwinksi shares how to combine, extract, and trim shapes all with the single, powerful shape builder tool! You’ll practice your new skills by creating some fun creature designs. Share your project in the class’s project gallery by March 12th.
- Milestone 4: Finally, we’ll complete Mastering Illustrator: 10 Tips & Tricks to Speed Up Your Workflow. DKNG designers Dan Kuhlken and Nathan Goldman will share the Illustrator tricks of the trade they employ for a fast and efficient workflow. You will incorporate everything you’ve learned into a final design that you’ll share in the class's project gallery by March 18th.
