Featured Class: How to Paint: Master Watercolor Cacti & Succulents
Love the look of watercolor but not sure where to start? Join three accomplished painters and take your first steps into the colorful, quirky world of watercolor. Learn basic techniques, more modern applications, and tackle your fear with abstract experiments. You’ll need a basic watercolor set, brushes, and paper. This is a judgment-free zone so you can feel safe and comfortable sharing your first watercolor paintings with the group!
Workshop Timeline
- Milestone 1: First up, join fashion illustrator and artist Katie Rodgers in Art Essentials: Learn Watercolor Painting Basics, a Skillshare Original. Prepare, paint, and polish beautiful illustrations even if you’ve never picked up a brush! You’ll learn how to paint on wet and dry paper, how to mix color, and how to create texture. Share your finished painting or work-in-progress in the Project Gallery by June 10th.
- Milestone 2: Next up, join watercolorist and calligrapher Audrey Ko in How to Paint: Master Watercolor Cacti & Succulents. In this class you’ll learn basic skills along with some tricks for working with water, correcting mistakes, and working with surprising results. Simple direction and an accessible project make this an easy and welcoming class for new watercolorists. Share your work in the Project Gallery by June 19th.
- Milestone 3: Lastly, join illustrator Marie-Noëlle Wurm in Abstract Watercolor Paintings: Explore Through Freeform and Planned Process. You’ll learn two approaches: one that is freeform and improvisational, where you jump right in and learn to trust your creative instincts; and the other involves brainstorming and planning out your work before putting paint to paper. In both cases, fun is the focus! Share your work in the Project Gallery by June 29th.
