This August, join hundreds of other students to learn the art of fun scientific illustration in less than one month! The talented Christine Fleming will take you through her full process for creating a charming illustration based on an interesting scientific fact. Across two classes, she’ll teach you how to take a scientific fact or concept and turn it into an exciting illustration that steps beyond reality, but still communicates the concept accurately. You’ll learn about the steps of creating an illustration, including research, brainstorming, sketching, refining a drawing, and digital production in Photoshop. She’ll also walk you through some illustration fundamentals that are often misunderstood including line, value, and color, to make your work as strong as possible. While the main project focuses on her scientific illustration class, you'll also complete quick speed drawings from her character illustration class. You'll learn how Christine visualizes emotions and injects genuine feelings into her illustrated facial expressions, and use that information in your final scientific illustration for this session. This challenge is perfect for anyone looking to step into the world of digital illustration or sharpen their existing skills in an engaging, collaborative environment. By the end, you’ll have your own one-of-a-kind illustrated scientific fact that is beautiful, fun, AND informative!
