Animation can be easy! In this workshop, you’ll join three illustrators who have embraced simple approaches to animation. This workshop is great for animation beginners, including experienced illustrators who feel too busy to learn complex tools. You’ll need access to Procreate, After Effects, and Photoshop for this workshop but don’t worry — you’ll learn everything you need to know to use these programs. Total beginners welcome!
Workshop Timeline
- Milestone 1: First up, join graphic artist Aurélia Durand in Animated Illustrations for Instagram. Aurélia explains how to sketch movements as key pauses, how to draw with layers in illustrator, and how to make a stop-motion sketchbook. Share your animation in the Project Gallery by February 3rd.
- Milestone 2: Next up, join artist Rich Armstrong in Procreate Animation: Make Fun GIFs and Videos. Rich explores the mighty power of the iPad and Procreate to add movement to any illustration with ease. You’ll learn some basic animation principles, how to add movement to existing artwork, and how to create looping animations. Share your animation in the Project Gallery by February 13th.
- Milestone 3: Lastly, join illustrator Chris Piascik in Frame by Frame Animation: Fun Tips and Tricks for Non-Animators. Chris walks you through setting up files for animation in Photoshop and Procreate, making images wiggle and vibrate, using smears to create movement with a single frame, and using exaggeration and timing to make more expressive animations. Share your animation in the Project Gallery by February 22nd.
