Slow down and find balance with a workshop all about painting from nature. In these clear and beginner-friendly step-by-step classes, you’ll develop your watercolor confidence while creating vibrant paintings that spark joy. Lean into your appreciation of the natural world, take time to create for the sake of it, and have fun! All you need for this workshop is your favorite paper and paints. All levels welcome.
Teacher Rosalie Haizlett is excited to offer an art-filled prize package to one lucky workshop member! The prize package includes a variety of art products that Rosalie created, including 2 watercolor fine art prints, a collection of waterproof stickers (perfect for a laptop or water bottle!), and a hand-written note with personalized feedback and encouragement on your submitted project. To enter, participants must submit a project for both classes in the workshop, and a winner will be drawn at random at the conclusion of the workshop. See our terms and conditions for more details.
Workshop Timeline
- Milestone 1: First up, watch Watercolor in the Woods: A Beginners Guide to Painting the Natural World with Rosalie Haizlett. This soothing, meditative class includes clear guidance for total beginners with plenty of tips for experienced painters. You’ll learn how to take a great reference photo, create an accurate pencil sketch, and use watercolor layering techniques to bring your sketch to life. Share your painting in the Project Gallery by January 25th.
- Milestone 2: Next up, join Rosalie again in Watercolor Your World: A Meditative Approach to Painting Landscapes. Have you ever encountered a place that was so awe-inspiring that you wished you could remember it forever? In this class, you will build on the techniques you learned in class 1, this time using landscape painting as a tool to help you slow down and document your favorite places. Share your painting in the Project Gallery by February 8th.
