camera history

thank you for this class! It really brought back some fun memories of my early days with a camera!
the photo above is one that my 10 year old self took with my mother's camera on one of our trips to visit my grandparents! I had to take all my toys with me and I spent hours (and several rolls of film) photographing my toys in my grandparent's yard :)
:)
Section 2: Personal Questions
• What is the oldest camera you have ever used?
I do not remember the exact camera - I grew up with 110 film cameras
(the Kodak long, thin rectangular black 'box'). I also had a keychain
110 film camera that we could sneak into the concerts that we had tickets to
to get photos! My older brother was a traveler and photographer, he
had a Hasselblad and he used 120 film! And in my teenage years, I
took over my mother's Chinon 35 mm!
• Can you remember when you first used a digital camera?
Not to be specific or anything, but it was October 13th 2004. The trip
to Las Vegas! Took over 100 photos using a Canon PowerShot A60~ It
was my friend's camera and I was terrified of losing it!
• Do you prefer taking photos on your mobile phone or a digital camera?
Both. It is easier to find the shot on the cell phone screen and then
use the "real" camera to take the "Official" photo. Also, one camera
can be set to a specialized setting (black and white mode) making it
easy to get the specialized photos without having to switch camera
modes back and forth. Of course, digital ( 'real' ) camera has a much
better zoom!
• Have you ever built a pinhole camera?
I did build a pinhole camera in elementary school ... in the 1980s.
• Have you ever constructed a 'camera obscura' type device co observe a
solar eclipse?
Not officially! when is the next eclipse anyway?
• What is the oldest photograph you have in your family album?
Offhand, I would say they are the photos of my Great Great
Grandmother Johanne (not labeled, assuming it is Johanne)? The photos are on that thick cardstock with the name of the photographer and the town on it. The town name is "Christiania" (Norway) . The spelling of Christiania was changed in 1877 to Kristiania.
• Do you still use 35 mm film?
No. The last camera shop here in town to develop film closed
several years ago.
• Do you prefer colour or black and white photographs?
Depends on the photo!
• What do you use filters on social media platform like Instagram?
Generally the filters that I use for Instagram are ones to correct
the hues and saturation of the photo - my cell phone camera takes
really dull-colored photos !?!
