Duolingo

Duolingo - student project

Duolingo, the popular language-learning app, has designed its user experience (UX) to be inclusive, providing accessibility for people with different types of disabilities:

  1. Visual Accessibility:
  • Compatible with screen readers like VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android).
  • Use of high-contrast colors and recognizable shapes for people with low vision or color blindness.
Hearing Accessibility:
  • Visual options complement audio exercises (audio transcriptions and text-based instructions).
  • Users can complete exercises using only text or images if they have hearing impairments.
Cognitive Accessibility:
  • Simple, intuitive design minimizes cognitive overload.
  • Clear and progressive gamification keeps users motivated.
