Your class project is to colour a scene or illustration of your choice! You can colour one of the illustrations I've provided, or use your own drawings.

Once you're ready to share, I'd love to see what you make! You can upload your finished project along with work-in-progress to the project gallery here, and you can also share your work on instagram and tag me there @sarahholliday :)

Exercises

1. Word Prompts

Using the provided worksheet, choose a colour that you feel matches each word. There are no right answers here! You can also try this exercise using a different set of word prompts.

2. Value Thumbnails

Practice colouring the provided scenes using greyscale values, aiming for readability and balance of composition.

3. Colour Thumbnails

Practice colouring scenes using different colour schemes. Feel free to play and experiment here, you can repeat this exercise as much as you like.

Final Project

Your final project is to colour an illustration of your choice.

You can colour one of the scenes I've provided, or use your own drawings if you prefer. Try out a few different palettes and play around with different moods, before taking your favourite on to finalise in your own style.
