For your class project, you will create a hand lettered illustration that can be shared to social media, added to a print on demand site, or printed, so you can frame it and put it up on your wall

It is important to go through each video and take action along the way, so that you will have a completed piece of artwork! The main steps to complete your project are:

Research, ideation, and planning
Sketching layouts as thumbnails, refining the final sketch, and finalizing the lettering style + motifs
Inking, adding color, and adding depth and textures

In your final projects, I will be looking for:

Balance in your layout and composition and even color in your lettering
A consistent style throughout your work with a strong message/ theme
How you apply color and textures and polish the design

You will need an iPad with an Apple Pencil. You can use books, magazines, photos, and Pinterest to gather inspiration. Be careful to only use these images for inspiration. Draw from several sources, so that your work stands out on its own.

In the Resources section, I've included some downloads: sample color palettes, some examples of lettering styles, and some example layouts to try. Download these to use in your project. I hope they inspire you to create your very own palettes, layouts and lettering styles!
