This is the third tutorial in the Wire Post Earrings series. Check out the other videos for more wire jewelry designs!
This design will be great for practicing with different types of pliers to create the shape you want.
Creating these studs will help you to learn how to
- wrapping multiple continuous loops
- create a post for a stud earring
- tighten a shape in the wire
- use different types of pliers
- file the cut end of wire
The tools you need:
- needle-nose pliers
- flat-nose pliers
- nylon jaw/plastic-coated pliers
- wire/flush cutters
- ruler
- file
- 20 gauge jewelry wire in the color of your choice. (gold, silver, copper, etc)
- plastic earring backs

Create a Flower Stud
Practice the small bend in between loops. This bend is important in that it guarantees you have enough room to make the next loop.
Work on creating loops that are all the same size. Always wrap in the same place on the needle-nose pliers. You can mark your pliers with a piece of tape if you need help with this.
When creating the post, hold only the last loop created in your flat-nose pliers as you bend the wire down.
Upload a picture of the finished flower shape.
