wild fern, a weed, and wild rosemary

wild fern, a weed, and wild rosemary - student project

The wild fern was exposed onto a cotton muslin bag.  I put a piece of bristol paper inside the bag to keep from coloring the backside.  The bag had to be exposed for about 20 minutes, and it took quite a long time in the water bath, as it had a LOT of the dye in it. It turned out beautifully - I'm looking forward to doing more with cloth!

This is a flowering weed from our yard, done on a particularly sunny day (in only about 10 minutes exposure - our sun is very bright and hot in the Summer on America's Gulf Coast!).  It was done on inexpensive watercolor paper.

Here is wild beach rosemary, exposed at the same time as the one above. It was also done on inexpensive watercolor paper.
