to get a letter...

I have a passion for hand written letters and mail, so the phrase I chose for this project is:

To get a letter, you must write a letter

Here are my two pages of notes. It took me a while to get a quote I really wanted to work with, but once I got it, I was ready to let the ideas flow.

Then from these notes, I put together this inspiration board using modern and vintage letter ideas.

lettering inspiration:

I got my supplies together: I luckily still had all of my drawiang pencils from college, so I broke those our to use again. I did have to go buy a few things, but who doesnt love picking up new supplies! :)

As you can see above, I started doing a few sketches based on the video instruction. I have HORRIBLE handwriting, so I am being tested with these challanges for sure. I have a fear of committing to doing one word in different styles so far, so I am just doodling different letters so far.

It has taken me a while to complete phase 2: I was feeling very frustrated with my lettering abilities. I finally sat down for a few hours this weekend and tested a few words.

I am hoping to get more inspired and keep playing with letters and word styles before going to pracitce layouts.
