I really enjoyed this project and ended up with 3 pieces and more ideas to follow.
First, I tackled the free-form play. The only commitment I took were the colors that were already on my plate and which I really really like. I know everything looks very nature like and such but I just went with whatever felt good at the time. I did a second layer after my first one dried because I wanted to add some shimmer and sparkle and I really like how this layer is visible only when you turn the paper and the paint catches the light. I used gold watercolor for this layer.
Then I sat down with my sketchbook and made a few thumbnails.
The first one was already kinda in my mind but the other three came as I sketched. Naturally, I went to paint the first one first :)
I used fine-liners to finish off this piece and some sparkly gel pens but they can't be seen here.
And because the ideas were already planted I did one more. I used black ink for the splotches and fine liners to add the details:
All in all I am very pleased with the results and the fact, I picked up my brushes again.
I already watched all of Marie's classes and I loooove them all! Big fan here now :)
