This is a musican from my hometown. I was asked to take a portrait of him for a music blog and beforehand I watched this skillshare course, which really helped me being more comfortable and checking out good spots in his working place. I usually take pictures at concert, so I feel awkward giving instructions on posing.
He talked a lot about life, love, death, growing old and about music; his new album and about Nick Cave. So I tried to capture this themes in the pictures.
I like the composition of this photo, though it would be a lot better if he wasn't talking. I shoot this while he was talking and I didn't position him like this. So maybe next time when something like this happens, I can ask to do a shot again but then posed.
Pictures which didn't make it through my selection:
I liked the idea of the mirror; him reflection on his life and career. It didn't really work out and it doesn't fit within the serie.
I liked his messy, creative house, but this just went out to be some kind of snap shot.
Standing on the balcony, facing the city. I think the selected pictures are stronger, and the focus on this one is not perfect.
