jen's...bright, airy, vintage, modern // 8 principles example

Hi, I'm Jen

I have a fairly new Spanish Mediterranean home that is pretty much a blank slate at this point.  I want keep a neutral pallet on the walls that are an off white and add lots of color accessories.  Love Justina's style.

I want all of my spaces to be functional and livable for my family of 4 (and furry ones), use recycled/upcycled vintage pieces along with modern pieces.  I know what I like and am hoping....by the time I'm through this class, I'll learn how to make it happen :)

My example photo that contain the 8 principles:

love this room...the mix of elements

NEEDS // seating for multiple people, table space, shelving for organization

SHAPE // square pillows and shelf spaces mixed with round tables, accented with vertical rectangular spaces for hanging plant decor

COLOR // grouping navy and bold greens with grouping of bright pink and orange on neutral white and grays

PATTERN // southwest or import looking pattern mixed with modern abstract pattern against solid neutral base

TEXTURE // smooth (wood table, metalic/glass table, glass terrarium) vs. rough (rug, fabrics, plants)

PLACEMENT // grouping of colors with pillows and assessories on shelves... as well as balance of plants placed throughout room

BLING // metalic/glass table top and glass globes on shelves

BOTANICALS // grouping of terrariums on top of shelving (might not be able to see with this photo crop) and large one on table, and vertical groups of plants in terracotta pots on walls

5 key areas of my home // before photos:

the process: (a very scuffed up leather....very BROWN ottoman- used as a coffee table. And....I dislike the rug but it's what I have now)

^ 4 thrifted mexican/spanish blankets, topped with a small woven rug I've had around for a while...to cover the "big cube of browness" (I had an audience wondering if I would fall off my ladder.....since I let a friend borrow my wide angle lense, I had to be adventurous)

adding accessories:

The  D E T A I L S:

already had: silver tray, photos, books, tall glass vase, succulents/plants, blankets

I like it!
