I have been enjoying Tom Froese's online classes, and as expected this inky map class is also living up to my expectation. He is a great artist, but also a great teacher! It was very informative and well-explained step by step.
This is my first map project and I have learned a lot during the process. This is a map of Jeju Island in South Korea. I like simplicity but I still feel it is lacking something (looks flat, I didn't want to put more elements so I tried to give some texture on large surfaces). I think I need something regarding the texture and colors. What do you guys think? I saw lots of amazing work here so if anybody has an idea or feed-back, I would love to hear them!
Brainstorming for the map. I wrote some of my favorite landmarks and drew icons for them. I used my hand-writing on the map as well.
Sketching. I screen-shot an online map, imported it into procreate, and drew outlines (land and main big roads). I used Procreate instead of illustrator.
Drawing landmarks and laying them out.
I had a lot of fun, and I would like to make more maps applying what I missed this time. Again, thank you for the class, Tom! Everyone, let me know what else I can improve for the next map!
