Consumers do not buy what you make, they buy why you make it.

My name is Jesse Rodar and I am a Product Design student from North Carolina State University. When I was about 10 years old, I saw Hermes Craftsmen sewing together bags near Central Park in New York City. The concentration, attention to detail, and love they had when making every incision into a piece of leather made an impression on me to this day, inspiring me to one day design my own leather goods.

The problem with this "over-populated" industry is that designers are marketing these "trends" to street-wear enthusiast and urban lifestyle consumers; however, urban lifestyle consumers have never wanted to be marketed towards, and they do not follow trends. They create them. Just like Apple products or Goyard wallets, the excellence in quality and design creates the marketing for them.

"hyde" is a leather accessory company that crafts quality and design forward leather products. Using traditional leather skills such as edge-coating, and the use of waxed linen thread with sewing awl; while combining fashion forward forecasting, I have created these small wallets that I have designed in my dorm room, library, lunch table or anywhere that I have free time from my schoolwork. My education has been very technical and textile oriented, dealing with print and pattern design, and training in technical programs such as Gerber and Lectra; my interest in leather had been 100% funded by my part time job and educated from french and japanese leather videos on youtube, and the products created have been for my passion only thus far. Eventually, with access to proper tools, "hyde" will offer small leather goods, women's handbags, and luggage to consumers.

As you can see from the pictures below, they are not professional. "hyde" is very personal to me, and I have been waiting patiently for the right timing and guidance to give this the shot that it deserves.
