Youngblood family crest

these were some of the crests I liked. I decided to keep mine monocromatic as well, and just kept these roughly in my head for inspiration.

My grandfather on my mother's side was a carpenter and a missionary. Like his example, we've always done things for ourselves, whatever needed to be, we made with our hands usually.  I think we all liked to travel, I moved around a lot as a kid, and there are a lot of travelers in my family tree, part of that is due to mission work, along with musicians and artists.

there are also  Several chefs.  We all appreciate good food.  But rarely do we get to share it together, which is why I settled on a cooked turkey, which symbolizes thanksgiving and also enjoying a good meal.  We have learned to be very grateful growing up.  That's how everyone in my family was raise. I think a lot of that has to do with our faith.

anyways, I tried to incorporate all these things as best I could. I was happy with the final product and think it represents the spirit of who we are.

There weren't too many iterations once I sat down to make the crest on illustrator, it all kind of just came together with a little tooling around, then I took it to photoshop and made a few minor adjustments, added a paper backdrop to make it look aged. I will probably re-visit it tomorrow or later this week.  But this is what I have so far:
