As I wrote in my class assessment, this was very legendary for me. I look up to Young Guru, not just the music but the knowledge and wisdom that he has poured out in his talks about the music industry. Just teaching artist how to navigate through the crap. Not riding him or anything, but I just must say how much this opportunity means to me as a producer and MC. I haven't had many teachers in this thing, let alone teachers that know what they were doing haha. But they knew more then me so I just took what God gave me. This class has definitely boosted my quality by leaps and bounds. WIth all that being said I have explained what I did from what I learned

Mixed version of "Dedicated To Lupe"

I created my project in FL STUDIO- all compositions are original so no samples were used for production except for the hook where it says "Dumb It Down"

BASS

I Had already created the concept of this beat prior to the contest, but as I mentionedd above, with my knowledge at the time I was thinking I had to trade hard pumping bass (Used a regular Sub-bass synth) with my strong kicks - I learned ofcourse from this that all I had to do was use the SSL from watching the video- I changed the frequencies and all of a sudden no matter the volume of the bass instrument, the kick remained un-touched- amazing- then I used my Maxx - bass to bring it out a little more, turned up the low end on the left using a Q10 equalizer -

STRINGS

On my strings from the lesson I was able to actually understand because he taught me what "Compression" means so I applied the same principles to the violins used in the beat.

SNARE

I love my snare to pop, and I have always been trying to get that sound- I doubled the snare I had already and I took away the bass in it, using the Q10, - I mixed the two together and used it as somewhat of an "Overhead"

KICK

The kick, was a kick that I had tweaked previously, I created an overhead to that as well just to give it that extra punch

HATS

My hats in the begining were giving me problems cause I didn't really know about compression - Problem was solved soon as I learned about compression, the actual explaination of it, go figure? hahaha

I wrapped up everything, to level it with a regular limiter

Thank You
