I've been meaning to learn how to do this for ages but was always too daunted by the learning curve. So today I took some time out of my busy schedule and went through Jake's class.

This is my initial sketch, that I then redrew in Illustrator and copied over to After Effects which was quite tricky, but got there in the end. 

I had to find an external video to help me with the stroke start and end animation, as this is the effect I really wanted to achieve.
