Workshop #3: DESIGNING FOCAL POINT PRINTS

For Workshop #3 I've decided to take a break from floral patterns. Since I'm trying to define my personal style, I thought I would play with another subject to see what happens. I'm drawn to the bright, feminine colors and I'm transported back to my childhood where everything was so innocent and full of whimsy. My mind keeps going to playful party dresses, confetti, swirls and polka-dots. My hope is that this will translate into bright, fun prints. So, let the party begin!

Workshop #2: ILLUSTRATE FROM PHOTOS AND PAINTINGS

The weather has been really nice in Atlanta the past few weeks. Trees are budding and flowers are beginning to sprout. We are starting to see the first signs of spring. I love all the warmth and color of spring. So this little glimpse of better weather has inspired me to pull out photos I took last spring in my parent's garden. Can't wait to...spring ahead.

I have had a really hard time keeping up with this workshop due to work and personal obligations. But, I am continuing to learn and work on illustrations and patterns. So, although I am past deadline, I still plan to post my work as I go.

Workshop #1: ILLUSTRATE FROM SKETCHES

Hi All. This is my mood board...Wildflower Wild. I love all flowers. But I find the wild, randomness of wildflowers is really beautiful. I love their rainbow of colors and hardiness to grow abundantly. When I'm looking at these photos, I can feel the warmth of the sun and the free will the flowers possess. I'm hoping to translate that feeling into my patterns.

Wow, it feels good to get off the computer and "just draw." I have not done that in a long time. Once I got started, I couldn't stop. Here are a few of my rough sketches. I must admit, showing my sketches feels a little like doing a business presentation in my pajamas. But, I'm excited to turn these into something.

I'm running behind, but here are my motifs.

I could play with these patterns for hours upon hours. But, since I missed the deadline anyway, I thought I would post the patterns I'm most happy with. Bonnie, thank you for such a great class! I've learned so much and can't wait to continue to explore.

Tada...
