UPDATE: I decided to completely scrap Always Learning and start over. I decided to letter "Work Hard and Stay Humble"

I've been lettering for about 3 years at this point, but I find that I'm learning new things all the time. I want to keep my phrase fairly short as too much copy can become overwhelming, so I'm teetering on the idea of either:

1) Always Learning

2) No Fear

The second one is an option because I've had a few unexpected things thrown into my life in the last year that I have had to gather the courage to pursue, the most recent being freelancing full time.

There's also a phrase the Italians use, "Ars longa, vita brevis" which means, "Art is long, life is short" which could be interesting as well.

Clearly I have some thinking to do on the direction I want to take this, but I'm excited to improve my skills. When it comes to hand lettering, I can work quickly and it comes easy. Rendering in Illustrator is another can of worms. I find I lack the patience at times for it.

I've decided to go with Always Learning. I think it will lend itself to me trying a few different styles.

Sketches thus far. I'm trying to stay away from doing calligraphy simply because I need to expand my horizons. :)

I will soon be taking this into the computer. I'm not sure if I want to vector it, even though I know that's the basis of this class, because I like the hand rendered quality too much.
