Wordstock Bindery

Wordstock Bindery - student project

Wordstock Bindery is a passion project of mine. It is a

publishing and binding house based out of my living spcae, dedicated to delivering the stories and words of local creatives.

Still in its formative stages, Wordstock hopes to be a great avenue for creatives to document their work and have it done localy. I'm looking to keeping the homemade and local feel alive, through this project.

The label itself is a neat part of publishing history called a Book Trade Label. These tags were made by publishing houses and booksellers to set themselves apart from competition. Once a staple of the book world, trade labels are now seen as more of plus to book collectors who see them as a way of identifying older texts.

My goal is to harken to that asthetic, as well as bring a way to set my books apart.

Here are some more sketches, closer to where I want them to be.

Update 08/06/13:

After finaly being able to get back to this project, I've finaly made some headway on a monogram.

Now I'm trying to decide between a more art deco border to reflect the direction I went with the monogram, or a more simple border with the info centered. I'll be putting up some mock-ups shortly.
