Wonder

04-Aug-2015

Hola, Martina! Hello, everyone!

I am participating in the 2-week script lettering challenge so here are my first tries for the project.

I chose the word "wonder" for it:

I did multiple iterations of the word, with and without inclination with more or fewer flourishes:

64aed5f6

In the end, I preferred the following 2 to work on.

7b2f7033

I like flourishes but realized they weren't balanced in the first option. So I went with the last one:

17dcd764

I might add a flourish deriving from the R and going below.

Feedback is always welcome!

The last sketch didn't convince me much so I decided to keep exploring today and came out with the following options:

The one I prefer from these is number 6.

So in the following days I will refine this one:

Hey everyone, I missed yesterday's deadline but here I am with my corrections:

bf8deb49

Here's a still:

214a4c4f

Of course, I had to put the lettering on a horizontal line to analyze things properly.

Conclusion: The slant seems ok but I need to improve my rythm/spacing in 3 areas and make flourishes more harmonious by following the oval shape of my letters which were pretty much consistent except for the "e".

So I kept refining the last sketch and modifying said points. I had a hard time with the flourish and tried some thickness but I prefered to add a little bit of thickness.

And here is the final "Wonder" ready to be digitized:

All feedback is more than welcome! ;0)
