Witchcraft - student project

Hello there,

my Name is Anna and I am an Illustrator from Germany.

I wanted to create a collection, which is more on the darker side but also has beautiful floral elements. I chose the topic witchcraft.

I never really created moodboards for my work but it seemed to help. When I look at my final outcome it is still all over the place.

What I wrote down:

  • Ouija Board
  • pentagram and other symbols
  • herbs and other ingredients
  • crystals
  • skulls
  • spellbooks

Here are a few of my sketches. I went a little crazy on that, so this is by no meaning everything, but a nice summary. Also, I have some notes for a game I played recently :D

I definitely need to get more organized. I could show you the motifs I did, but I didn't save them separately and its too much effort to extract them out of the patterns.

Actually, the story was the first thing that came into my mind. Now, here's the thing: The story doesn't fit exactly - at least in my opinion.

The claw of a crow, blood of a bat and 3 leeches… A dusty book of spells, occult symbols, mysterious incidents, and the cold breeze in your neck —  even though all windows are closed.

But I needed to end this project and call the patterns complete. I felt like I learned a bunch, but fixing this would take too much time. Now I am starting my next collection and I'm getting it right the next time.

Thanks for this amazing class!
