July 5th, 2013:
Sooooo, I went and totally changed almost everything!
I tried out a different lettertype and a different layout. And I have to say it is getting more and more in to a direction I like. I am not sure yet about 'awesome', going to try out some different things with that.
What do you guys think?

I have just gotten back to working on this project, after not having been able to do much for a couple of weeks. It was really great to read all your feedback, thanks again for that!
I changed the lay out a bit. In the first sketches I made I was not so happy with the layout and I was a bit unsure about the lettering of the different words. It all felt a bit stiff and uncomfortable to me. I have been just sketching away to find a different composition. I am most happy with this last sketch I made. I like 'awesome' like this. But I am wondering if the rest should be a bit smaller in comparrison? And I am thinking it might be a bit messy now... I am just going to do some more sketching, and see what I can come up with :)
May 2013:
Hi!
I have been interesed in handlettering fo a while, and am happy to have find a way, like this class, to learn and try out in a bit more 'organized' way. With all the steps given by Neil.
I decided on the quote:
'When I get sad, I stop being sad, and be awesome instead.'
Sketch 1:
I like the idea of playing with different sizes for the words, and by doing so emphasizing which words are important. I want SAD to give a different feeling than the word AWESOME. I first thought to make SAD very heavy and dark, and AWESOME light and happy, as you can see in these first 2 sketches.
Sketch 2:
I was not so happy with the layout in the first sketch, so I cut out the different parts and changed it to the one below here. I do like the layout better, but thought SAD was maybe a bit to dark and heavy.
Sketch 3:
So... in the last sketch I used a different lettertype for SAD, which I am quite satisfied with. The AWESOME I also think is quite ok, but I am wondering if it should maybe be a bit bigger or darker, in comparison to SAD? Or SAD should be smaller?
I am really not so happy with the other text in this one. I changed the slanting (is that what it is called?) so that it is not as slanted as AWESOME. I think it might be to curly or something, I don't know exactly what is wrong, but I know it has to change. Maybe I have to do it more as normal writing... I didn't hate it as much in the first two sketches.
I am also wondering if 'and be' and 'instead' should be placed differently.
As you can see it is still a work in progress and I am definitely not there yet, so I 'd love to hear any thoughts and feedback you guys have on this!
Thanks!
