Watercolour Rose

Watercolour Rose - student project

Hi Maria,

Thank you for teaching realistic watercolour rose. I really appreciate your efforts to make this class happened.

This rose photo was taken 3 years ago at Rotorua Rose Garden, NZ. Here are some of my process pictures.

Sketching is a bit hard for me. But that is the only way before I can put down my paint onto paper. Sorry for the poor quality picture. Sketching and first colour layer was done at night.

Maria made the painting process look easy. But that is not the real thing happened here. I decided to put it aside and go to bed before I ruin the whole piece.

Here is my final piece. Not satisfies of course. Trying to rescue here and there. I know this takes really lots of practice. Feel free to comment for my future improvement.

Thank you :)

Still obsess with roses. Not satisfied with the previous painting, today I decided to paint referring to the rose provided in the project resources and carefully follow along with Maria's painting process. Looking at the final piece, I can say I always tend to paint darker, I wish to have better control in colour value, and to keep the beauty of transparency in watercolour.
