Watercolor Shoes

Hi! This is my first time watercoloring objects. I've recently played around with a cheap kit I found at Michael's, but never tried anything like this before. I'm hooked! it's a lot of fun and I love how "forgiving" watercolor really is.

I started with my color chart trying to mix different colors with permanent red, permanent yellow and peacock blue...and a beer.

Here's a few that I came up with by mixing:

Then I found these shoes on ModCloth:

The next night, afer my kids went to bed I tried the ever so popular Louboutins. I had difficulty coming up with the right shade to resemble black. I did a lot of layering and finally came up with the right color, but it doesn't look like I used watercolors. I'll probably keep practicing to get that right patent leather/watercolor look.

I also tried out sequins, and definitely need more practice. I need to also practice mixing large portions of paint. I had a hard time getting the right gold glittery color for the base of the shoe, and once I had something that I thought I could work with, I used it all up on one shoe and couldn't get the right color for the second shoe.

I had a lot of fun with these though and definitely want to keep practicing.

Thanks for looking!
