So here is my new watercolor class, inspired by Aurora, the greek goddess of dawn.
In this BEGINNER FRIENDLY class I would like to show you how to paint a northern lights background and a semi-realistic / manga style portrait.
As always, I included the line art template in the class resources, so you don't need to draw it on your own.
At first I only had some rough ideas of what I want to paint. I knew I want to paint a woman with closed eyes and some galaxy background, so from that idea I made several pre-sketches before the finalized one.
Now, the second challenge for me was to decide the colors of the northern lights. I made some color studies and finally I stayed with the blue sky-yellowgreen aurora borealis theme.
To sum it up I made 4 line art sketches and 12 smaller color studies before I painted the final piece.

Can't wait to see your class projects!

P.s. And I couldn't stop myself to edit a bit more light streaks with color dodge in Photoshop on the scanned painting.
