Watercolor Cone Flowers

Watercolor Cone Flowers - student project

Cara, I love painting cone flowers but you have given me a new love for them. I used cobalt blue and Payne's grey for my stems and leaves with a hint of phalo green. I didn't have the Daniel Smith green gold but I mixed raw sienna, new gamboge, sap green and a little bit of sepia. I used WN ivory black and sepia. I done a bit of mixing then decided to just wing it. I had mentioned on IG that I would try painting this flower in gouache to see how it will come out. Thank for teaching such a great class and I really like the tip regarding creating the the little black pines by scrubbing first. Can't wait for your next class.
