WORKSPACE | Skillshare Projects

Since becoming a new Mom this year, I have cherished any bit of time I can get to work on my own projects. I, oddly enough, see my workspace that I share with my husband as a peaceful place within our home where I can be with with my thoughts.

My first sketch is pretty rough. I might redo it to get the proportions correct, or I might just jump to the next step because I know what I have to change.

I picked colours based on what is actually in my workspace. Its very neutral with mostly browns and greys – lots of wood and metal – with small pops of a fuschia and dusty olive green. I added blues to the palette for a bit more life.

Below is my digital drawing in the outline stage. There is a lot more detail in this image than I realized during sketch phase. I like the technical drawing feel of it.

I have filled in colour, added some gradients and wood grain texture at this stage. Next step is to get further into texturizing.

This is the final illustration. I did not go off with the texturing because in the end this QUIET piece only called for a little. I'm happy to have been able to try out some of the new texturing techniques I learned in this class.
