Project Description:

Vector Illustration for Beginners: Learning the Basics Using Adobe Flash - Part 1

We will draw a cute simple cupcake using Adobe Flash (Animate CC). :)

This is course is for beginner vector artists who want to learn the basics of vector drawing. We will use Adobe Flash (Animate CC) because it has a simple workspace (menu) and is easier to use compared to Adobe Illustrator and other vector software.

Adobe Flash is great for simple illustrations, cartoons, calligraphy, comics, and picture books.

Vector artwork is amazing because you can:

  1. You can resize drawings and they will always stay high resolution and not pixelate.
  2. You can easily change the color and size of drawings.
  3. You can easily change the width of lines.
  4. You can edit copies of the same drawing, without having to use copy and paste or redrawing them, by using symbols. (Symbols are like modifiable digital stamps.)

Part 1

  • Why vector artwork is amazing to create
  • Overview of the workspace (menu)
  • How to customize your own workspace (menu)  to make it easier to use
  • How to use a drawing tablet and pen

What you will need:

  • Adobe Flash or Adobe Animate CC (Free Trial) If you don’t already own the software you will have to rent it monthly from Adobe. The cost of renting it monthly is equivalent to buying art supplies for a casual hobbyist with none of the mess in the studio or on your clothes!
  • A drawing tablet and pen that you can connect to your computer. The Intuos Draw tablet, by Wacom, is conveniently affordable, compact, and a high quality product. (Wacom)
