Valera Designs logotype

Hello all,

I really learned a lot in this class! I had a lot of fun designing the logotype for my fictional company "Valera Designs". Specially useful were the lectures on adding shading and making 3D effects, hard to follow for a newbie like me (had to rewatch them multiple times!). :)

I didn't prepare a moodboard per se, but I took a look at my Pinterest board and I knew what I was looking for. I started digitizing a rough sketch, using Ray's tips:

I then moved to perfecting the sketch and printing out the vectorized logo for final corrections:

I was happy with this final version of the logotype:

I then added the Design part (using the Upper Arc effect), and the shading following Ray's instructions and with the help of the halftones he provided:

Adding the 3D effects was the most difficult part, this one of the intermediate steps in the process (note the gray areas still not closed up)

Almost there:

I added a drop shadow to the Designs word, a little more shading, and then started playing with colors:

Finally I added some very mild distress (using Ray's Bipmap files) in Illustrator:

And also in Photoshop (some of Ray's brushes):

I'm very happy with how this project turned out. I learned a lot during the process and had lots of fun!

Best,

Elvira.
