Using Twitter Effectively for Your Small Business

Are you a small business owner who understands Twitter, but aren't sure  how to use it effectively to engage with your target customers?

Do you want anyone who sees your Twitter profile to know exactly what your business does and how you can help them?

Do you want to make sure your Twitter profile is searchable for the services and products you offer?

If you answered yes to any of those questions then this class is for you!

The statistics on social media use are too impressive for businesses to ignore. According to the article “216 Social Media and Internet Statistics (September 2012)” by Cara Pring:

  • 91% of online adults use social media regularly
  • $272,000 is spent by consumers online (source: AllTwitter)
  • 70% of adult social networkers shop online
  • 53% of active adult social networkers follow a brand
  • 79% of online shoppers spend 50% of their online shopping time researching products

However, many small business owners don’t use social media effectively - or sometimes at all! The number of choices - Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc - make it hard to know what platform to use and how to use it to gain new clients and retain current ones.

There are two key pieces to using Twitter for business: setting up an account profile and understanding what types of messages work best on Twitter.

I have over 15 years experience in marketing and communications and am the owner of Agility Marketing. I will share with you the quick and easy methods I use with clients to create effective messages on social networks.

By the end of the class you will:

  • have set up a Twitter profile to optimize your online presence and maximize your exposure to potential clients.
  • know how to create effective messages on Twitter to engage your target customer.

Included Handouts

  • A customer profile worksheet will be provided to all participants approximately 3 days before the class begins to assist with defining your target customer.
  • A guide with screenshots showing the Twitter profile areas will be given out during class.

Class Structure

The format of this session will be in person and will last 1.5 hours. Please bring a laptop so you can fill out your Twitter profile during class. This is an interactive class so please bring your questions!

Prerequisites

  • You must already have an understanding of Twitter, the lingo and how to use it.
  • You'll need to know who your target customer is for the section on creating messages. If you don't know who that is please leave a message in the discussion seciton and I will assist you in defining that.
