Up in the Franklins

A few weeks ago my friend Brenda hit me up about linking up and creating something she had had in mind for a while now. She talked about how she wanted to incorporate the American flag into the photos as she wanted them for the 4th of July. When I asked her about the location she had no idea and asked me if I had any good ones in mind. Being new to the model game I really didn't have any spots picked out in my head, although shooting a lot of landscapes and street I told her about Tom May's which is a state park up on the Franklin Mountains in town that has a lot of hiking trails and great scenic areas. She agreed and we set it up.

The park is about 10 minutes away, so I had frequently visited it before. Although I had gone up on the trails before with my camera, I had never actually gone through and scouted the area for a model shoot. Needless to say I was feeling a bit nervous and overwhelmed when she showed up. I decided to go with my instinct and led her to a nice area I had gone by before. The area was surrounded by mountains, which I thought would make a great backdrop, and it also had a nice wash going up the middle. After snapping the first picture, everything else flowed by nicely after that. Hopefully the photos are a good representation of that.

Big thanks Van for being an inspiration and sharing your advice.
