Unusual bookshelves

Hi,

I have just finished my bookshelf project. It is a bit different from all your glamorous shelves. I have made these for my son a while ago out of wine crates.

Back then I thought they will be fantastic shelves and when I put them on the wall I thought they were very cool and different. I did not realize however that with the different backgrounds I applied that it is quite hard to put things on it to make them look good. He has a lot of books so I really needed them as shelves, but could not really fit much on them as they are quite shallow. Anyway this is how it ended up.

He liked it, which made me very happy. What do you think?

SHELVES AFTER

BEFORE: Sofa

FIRST VERSION of sofa: I tried a throw. I am just not sure

SECOND TRY: different colours, still not convinced

THIRD ATTEMPT: just a few less pillows

FOURTH TRY: it is morning by now. Still trying.

AFTERNOON: found some more pillows, my girls seemed to like these.

I love colour, but is there just too much? What do you think?

LOVESEAT

I have a small Victorian love seat and was working on that too. It is quite tricky as it is small and I did not have many small pillows to put on it. Here is a before and after photo.

COFFEE TABLE:

I had a bit of a struggle with this part. It is a beautiful table but it does nor really go with my house. However my husband very talented uncle made it for him so I feel I can't just give up on it and get a cool retro instead. So this is what I came up with:

MY INSPIRATION

Hi,

I am Eszter, a Hungarian living in the Mid-West. I was very excited about this course. Sorry for this late start. We have been away for spring break with our 3 children and the internet was at snail pace. Anyway nice to finally start working.

I love this corner (although I could only show a section of it when I uploaded it). This is what inspired me when I was repainting our dining room.

Needs: nice comfy sofa in a cosy corner

Shape: diversity of shapes: round coffee table,

Colour: absolute decadence with the bold turquoise-green and gold

Pattern: the wallpaper creates a fantastic texture for the whole room, but the white sofa and floor gives it a calm feel as well

Texture: I love the way the coldness of the marble is balanced out with the silk cushions and the cool lamp with its tassels

Placement: it is quite clever how they put very different artworks together very closely on such dominating wall paper. I love how the reds and fuchsias in the artworks just make it all pop out so it does not drown into the wallpaper

Bling: the vase and candle holders are such a great blings

Botanicals: true eclectic, asymmetric and simply beautiful flowers

So now onto the next project
